On the evening of August 3, BAIC Langu released a pre-plan for the non-public offering of A shares in 2020, which raised no more than 5.5 billion yuan, and the funds raised will mainly be invested in "ARCFOX brand high-end model development and network construction", "5G intelligent network connection system promotion" and "power exchange business system development" projects.

The announcement shows that the non-public offering of BAIC Blue Valley shares includes no more than 35 specific targets, including BAIC Group and its related parties BAIC Guangzhou and Bohai Automobile. Among them, the number of shares subscribed by BAIC Group is not less than 29.57% of the actual number of shares issued this time, and the number of shares to be subscribed by BAIC in Guangzhou is not less than 6.25% of the actual number of shares issued this time. The number of shares to be subscribed by Bohai Automobile is not less than 3.01% of the actual number of shares issued. After the completion of this issue, BAIC is still the controlling shareholder of BAIC Langu, and Beijing SASAC is still the actual controller of the company.

From this investment plan, BAIC Langu will further focus on building a high-end ARCFOX brand. According to the announcement, the total investment in ARCFOX brand high-end model development and network construction projects is 4.203 billion yuan, including three ARCFOX brand high-end electric vehicle development, data platform construction and application projects and ARCFOX brand marketing network construction.

After entering 2020, BAIC EU series sales have been depressed. Due to the lack of popular models, BAIC Langu sold only 14700 vehicles in the first six months of this year, down 77.4% from the same period last year, far exceeding the industry average of 37.4%. Sales in half a year are less than Tesla's monthly sales.

In addition, the rapid "rise" of new forces in domestic car-building has also brought great pressure to it. According to the latest statistics of the Federation of passengers, in the first half of 2020, the top 5 brands in terms of sales volume of independent brand new forces are Lulai Automobile, ideal Automobile, Weima Automobile, United Motor and Xiaopeng Automobile. The sales volume of five car companies has reached 91% of the total sales of independent brand new forces.

In July this year, with the launch and delivery of models such as EC6, Xiaopeng P7 and BYD Han, BAIC's market share of new energy was further reduced.

In fact, BAIC New Energy has long felt the pressure to try to launch mid-and high-end brands to save the market, and ARCFOX is the "weapon" of BAIC New Energy in the mid-to-high-end new energy vehicle market. The brand launched in August 2016. The first model is ARCFOX ECF, which is expected to be mass produced in August and officially delivered this year.

As a new energy vehicle company founded in 2009, it has been implementing a single-brand strategy, its products are mainly cost-effective models, and achieved good sales results in the new energy vehicle dividend period. However, it is not difficult to see that the current BAIC new energy has lost its former luster.

As a driving force in the high-end new energy market, the ARCFOX brand is endowed with high hopes by BAIC New Energy, but the sales volume of ARCFOX has to be tested by the market. However, it can be foreseen that in the face of traditional car companies accelerating the layout of the new energy field, domestic car brands and the impact of Tesla on the market, BAIC New Energy will lose market share in the future period of time is inevitable.
