AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/07 Report--

With the gradual strictness of domestic policy emissions, new energy models have become models for more and more car companies to lay out new markets. Due to the high cost of hybrid models, it is difficult to reduce the price of hybrid models in order to get fewer potential consumers. But a few days ago, it was reported that FAW Toyota's domestic plan to introduce a lower hybrid powertrain has been confirmed, which means that the threshold for Toyota hybrid models will be lowered.

FAW Toyota is building a TNGA 1.5L/2.0L hybrid project with a total floor area of 26000 square meters, according to an exposed document. It means that more domestic Toyota models will be equipped with the hybrid system in the future. according to the overseas layout, the hybrid assembly is expected to be matched with the main small / compact products such as Carola and Yize. This will also allow its models to be loaded with hybrid systems at a lower price to reduce the price of the models.

It is understood that the TNGA 1.5L engine (in-line three cylinders) is a new product launched by Toyota, which has been carried in overseas brand-new Yaris and other models, and it has also been reported that the domestic version of the new Corolla has been confirmed to use this power in the future.

Although the three-cylinder engine is relatively resistant in the current consumer market, Toyota currently has only 1.8L hybrid assembly and 2.5L hybrid assembly among the domestic hybrid assembly models, while the Carola model is equipped with 1.8L hybrid assembly. As the Corolla is the main cost-effective model in the A-class market, its current sales of 1.8L are not as good as 1.2T turbo models, which proves that lower barriers to buying cars will help it gain more market share.

At the same time, hybrid power has a natural advantage in terms of fuel consumption, adding a lower-cost hybrid assembly may be able to meet the needs of more consumers. In addition, FAW Toyota will produce an extended version of the Corolla, and the 2.0L hybrid is an urgent project.

As for the 2.0L hybrid system in China is not a new power system, because the current domestic sales of Lexus UX260h models have been carried out, but not yet adopted by domestic models. If the project is implemented, the 2.0L hybrid system will also be used in more entry-level models of compact or medium-sized products in the future, so as to further expand Toyota's hybrid lineup in China.

Toyota, as the first to develop hybrid system, can be said to be the leader of the new energy era, and its THS system has also become an excellent hybrid powertrain with comprehensive product power in the market. However, in terms of overall sales performance, hybrid models only account for less than 20% of FAW Toyota's total sales in the whole year, which also shows that there is still a lot of room for improvement in the market, so by introducing hybrid models with lower barriers, it may further enhance FAW Toyota's future brand sales.
