On August 7, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. It is decided to recall some Chery Ruihu 5 vehicles manufactured from July 13,2013 to September 13,2017 from August 15,2020, totaling 190352 vehicles.

The reason for recall is that the main harness terminal of ECU of vehicle engine within the scope of recall may be flooded or contaminated. Under the condition of high-pressure water gun flushing, high-pressure water will enter the interior of ECU through ECU main harness terminal, resulting in corrosion of internal circuit of ECU control unit due to water inflow. In extreme cases, the vehicle cannot be started or power interruption will occur. Under normal circumstances, the high-pressure water gun will be used when washing the car, so when washing the car, the ECU main harness terminal may be flooded or contaminated, resulting in corrosion of the internal circuit of the control unit.

Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. will install ECU waterproof cover for vehicles within the recall range free of charge, diagnose and check whether ECU has faults, and replace ECU with faults free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards.

According to the data, Ruihu 5 is an SUV model owned by Chery Automobile and officially launched on November 28,2013. In terms of power, Ruihu 5 is equipped with 2.0L turbocharged engine, maximum power 102KW, peak torque 182N·m, matched with 5-speed manual transmission. It is worth noting that Ruihu 5 was reluctantly abandoned by Chery in 2018 due to the lack of market voice and various problems, and finally ended up in production suspension.

This is also the second recall of Chery this year. On January 14 this year, Chery Automobile filed a recall of 4000 Chery Arize 7e vehicles with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. The reason for the recall was that the control software strategy problem of the on-board charger may cause motor damage and fuse fuse, thus causing engine flameout, or the control software strategy problem of the vehicle controller assembly may trigger abnormal high voltage protection by mistake and cause engine flameout. Chery Automobile will carry out free inspection and refresh the electronic control system and on-board charger data for the vehicles within the recall scope, and replace the vehicle slow charging fuse to eliminate potential safety hazards. It is worth mentioning that Chery Arize 7e was also discontinued because fuel consumption was not up to standard.
