On August 11, at the top summit of China's automobile industry leaders, Cao Dewang, the glass king, expressed his views on the future development of the automobile industry.

At the summit, Cao Dewang said that he is very concerned about the development of new energy vehicles and believes that the field of new energy vehicles is the driving force for future development, but it will be very difficult for enterprises to really do it, because new energy vehicles are rich people like Xu Jiayin. Or capital bosses can do it, while other enterprises that rely on state subsidies cannot survive. In other words, the future development of new energy vehicles should not rely on government subsidies, enterprises should also have their own vitality, if each enterprise operating a product, completely rely on state subsidies to make money, it is waiting to die.

Cao Dewang believes that most enterprises choose the new energy vehicle industry because of government subsidies. Although the state has been making great efforts to develop the new energy vehicle industry, it is very difficult for enterprises to do so, because Chinese consumers are more conservative. They are more inclined to buy more mature fuel vehicles, and the domestic gas stations are dense, providing a lot of convenience for vehicles to refuel. Compared with fuel vehicles, new energy vehicles have to face more difficulties, such as mileage, charging problems, value preservation rate and so on.

Cao Dewang said that enterprises should rely on their own development to make themselves strong, let consumers accept new energy vehicles, let consumers think that new energy vehicles are better than fuel vehicles, in order to better promote new energy vehicles. Enterprises' efforts to develop industries and government subsidies should complement each other, rather than blindly taking advantage of the loopholes of national policies to make money.

Sales of new energy vehicles fell 32.8 per cent to 486000 from January to July, with sales of new energy vehicles rising 19.3 per cent to 98000 in July, the first increase so far this year, according to the China Automobile Association.

Cao Dewang also has a point. Since the decline of new energy subsidies in June last year, China's new energy vehicle sales have declined for 12 consecutive months and did not resume growth until July this year. It is worth mentioning that the reason behind such a large increase is that the decline of new energy subsidies last year led to a low sales base in July, and on the other hand, it is due to the state's sustained policy support for the development of new energy vehicles, including the extension of the purchase subsidy policy to the end of 2022, while easing the strength and pace of subsidy decline, and so on.

It is precisely because of the support of the state and the government to the new energy vehicle industry that a large number of enterprises have entered the development momentum of new energy vehicles. Both the household electrical industry and the real estate industry have entered the field of new energy vehicles. They all want to share a bowl of soup in the dividend period of the development of new energy vehicles.

Real estate tycoon Xu Jiayin wants to build cars, which has formed his own technological advantage through "buying and buying". Some time ago, he unveiled six new energy vehicles at one time, which instantly became the bright eye of the new energy vehicle industry. and for Evergrande, subsidies seem to be optional. Gree Dong Mingzhu used his dividend to repay the debt of Yinlong New Energy, Meituan Wang Xing invested in ideal cars many times, and Letv Jia Yueting went bankrupt and reorganized directly, saying that it was only to make FF.

In recent years, there has been no shortage of entrepreneurs dedicated to new energy vehicles, but few have been able to persist so far. The withdrawal of Baiteng, Sailin, Boxun and other brands has directly exposed the disadvantages of the development of the new energy vehicle industry. Perhaps, as the glass king said, it is impossible for car companies that have been maintained by state subsidies to survive.
