On August 12, the China Federation of passengers officially released the July market data, and the list of sales in the three major segments of passenger cars was immediately confirmed. Figures show that sales in the domestic narrow-sense passenger car market were 1.599 million in July, up 7.9 per cent from a year earlier and down 3.6 per cent from a month earlier.

Of these, 773000 cars were sold in July, up 3.5 per cent from a year earlier, 731000 SUV sales, 13.6 per cent year-on-year growth of 95000 MPVs and 3.2 per cent year-on-year growth. The three major areas showed collective year-on-year growth for the first time in 2020. It is worth noting that the data on the list are the retail sales statistics of the Federation of passengers.

In July, Nissan Xuanyi still took the lead, winning the first place of the month again, with sales of 46909 cars in July, an increase of 61.4% compared with the same period last year. Xuanyi accumulated sales of 252900 vehicles from January to July, an increase of 2.5% over the same period last year, which has replaced Volkswagen Longyi to continue to take the lead. Xuanyi model "new and old models" have been sold in the same house and achieved better market performance.

Volkswagen Longyi ranked second in July with sales of 37622 cars, with cumulative sales falling 12.5 per cent to 221200 from January to July. In order to strive to return to the top position, SAIC-Volkswagen has launched the "Lang Yi departure" model, which is based on the previous generation of Lang Yi model, with a small modification in appearance, with a 1.5L engine at a price of 9.99-122900 yuan. In July this year, SAIC-Volkswagen also launched a 3-year 75% discount buyback policy for Lanyi cars.

Toyota Corolla sales remained firmly in third place, with sales of 31497 vehicles in July, down 1.6 per cent from a year earlier. Buick Yinglang rose sharply and returned to the top five, with sales of 30,000 vehicles in July.

Among the other models in the top 10 are Volkswagen Bora, Volkswagen Suiteng, Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Toyota Leiling and Changan Escape. The Volkswagen brand and Japanese mainstream cars are still frequent customers on the list.

It is worth noting that Changan Yigou achieved a surge in sales in July, with sales of 18248 vehicles up 77.5% year-on-year in July, returning to the top 10. The market for the newly launched Yizhi PLUS model is relatively hot. Geely Dihao also did well, with sales of 17747 vehicles in July, ranking 11th on the list.

In the top 15 car rankings, the emergence of Audi A6, BMW 5-Series and BMW 3-Series is undoubtedly a bright spot. The main theme of consumption upgrading and price decline further leads the luxury car market to maintain high growth.

In terms of SUV models in July, there were three self-owned models in the top 10, two fewer than the previous month, while Boyue and BYD Song fell out of the top 10. Harvard H6 is still in a strong position, with sales of 21374 vehicles in July, up 9.7% from a year earlier, but the pressure from Changan CS75 is becoming more and more obvious. After the launch of the Changan CS75PLUS model, the CS75 car series continued to grow rapidly, with sales reaching 21071 vehicles in July, significantly narrowing the gap with the Harvard H6. In order to enhance the competitiveness of its products, Great Wall has launched a new Harvard H6, while the third generation Harvard H6 will be launched in August, further implementing the marketing strategy of new and old in-house sales.

Another autonomous model on the list is the Roewe RX5, and sales have continued to grow since the launch of the RX5 PLUS in June. Roewe RX5 sold 16251 vehicles in July, up 20.8 per cent from a year earlier. In fact, the centralized upgrading of head independent models has enhanced the competitiveness of products, and sales have achieved growth.

The market performance of Japanese models Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 is stable, with more than 17000 vehicles in July, ranking third and fourth. Due to the relative backwardness of its products, it is difficult for Nissan Qijun to maintain high sales even under the sharp terminal discounts, with sales of 14500 vehicles in July, down 8 per cent from a year earlier.

Mercedes-Benz GLC squeezed into the top five for the first time with a monthly growth rate of 32.4%, with sales reaching 16360 vehicles, continuing to confirm the rapid growth of the luxury car market. BMW X3 also sold 14059 vehicles in July, a year-on-year increase of 47.3%.

The product advantage of Volkswagen brand has also been maintained to a certain extent, although the sales of Tuguan models are not as good as before, but the listing of Tanyue and Tuyue also makes up for the embarrassment of the decline in sales of Tuguan. In July, the sales of Tuguan, Tanyue and Tuyue reached 16000, 15000 and 14000 respectively.

MPV market, even if the overall market scale is not large, but also become the next focus of many brand manufacturers layout areas. Wuling Hongguang's market halo remains the same, with July sales reaching 26413 vehicles, continuing to maintain the first place in MPV sales. The Buick GL8 has just completed a product update, and sales reached 15000 in July, making it still the leader in the joint venture household and business MPV.

Honda Ericsson and Odyssey sold 3744 and 3611 cars respectively in July, and their market sales remained stable. And the newly joined SAIC Volkswagen Weiran, the market performance is more general, sales of 2135 vehicles in July.

As the auto market picks up, sales return to positive growth, and most of the autonomous and joint venture models at the head also soar, further reflecting the confidence of China's auto market after the epidemic. In the second half of the year, major manufacturers will still speed up the launch of new products to make up for the lost performance in the first half of the year, so as to achieve the annual sales target.
