Dongfeng Nissan Loulan, which has not been updated for many years, has officially launched 2021 models, also continuing two power versions, with a price range of 23.88 yuan to 375800 yuan. Many netizens exclaimed: "it's a long story, but it hasn't stopped production yet?" It also reflects the very low sense of existence of the car in the market.

Nissan Loulan is a medium-sized SUV widely praised in the North American market, but its performance is not as good as its competitors in the domestic market. In September 2011, Dongfeng Nissan's medium and large cross-border SUV Loulan officially went on sale, when the car was made in CKD (fully assembled in pieces) and only powered by a 3.5L naturally aspirated engine, matched with a CVT continuously variable transmission with a price as high as 488800 yuan, you can imagine how dismal sales are.

Until August 2015, the listing of the new Loulan ushered in the real sense of localization, providing two power options, and the price range also dropped to 23.88-379800 yuan. The new car abandoned the 3.5L naturally aspirated engine of the previous generation in favor of a 2.5L engine and a hybrid system. Among them, the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine has a maximum power of 186hp and a peak torque of 230Nm, matching the CVT gearbox in the transmission system. As for the hybrid model, it is equipped with a 2.5L mechanically supercharged engine with a maximum power of 245 horsepower, a peak torque of 330 Nm, a maximum power of 20 hp and a peak torque of 160 Nm. All hybrid models are equipped with four-wheel drive system.

After five years, Nissan Loulan has not ushered in a major update, and the annual revised model is only adjusted in configuration, so its backward power system and interior design have been repeatedly complained by consumers.

The 2021 Nissan floor orchid on the market also continues the previous appearance and interior design, with the main changes being the addition of driving recorders and automatic folding rearview mirrors, upgrading of the Nissan Connect vehicle networking system and other configurations, and the power continues to be equipped with a hybrid system of 2.5L naturally aspirated engines or 2.5L mechanically supercharged engines to meet the sixth national emission standards.

Due to the outdated products, the power system is also derailed from the technology mainly pushed by Nissan, the interior continues the rough and old-fashioned design, the launch of new models, and even some netizens said that "do not understand the meaning of the existence of this car." Especially the interior of the car, netizens believe that "it challenges the lower limit of consumers' aesthetic tolerance."

For a relatively unpopular joint venture medium-sized SUV, Nissan Loulan's sales are not very bad, but the proportion of Nissan's internal sales is relatively low. Nissan Loulan sold 25473 vehicles in 2017, 27865 in 2018 and 23547 in 2019, with an average monthly sales of more than 2000. In 2020, Nissan Loulan's market performance declined rapidly, with cumulative sales of 3840 vehicles in the first half of the year. From the comparison of joint venture medium-sized SUV products, Nissan Loulan's sense of existence is indeed low.

This generation of Nissan Loulan models have a long history, their product strength and market competitiveness are relatively backward, and their appearance and interior design are also "out of date" compared with their counterparts. At present, Nissan's new product planning, there is no Loulan figure. If Nissan does not plan to invest more in it, Loulan is likely to completely lose the market opportunity and the meaning of existence.
