On July 23, Mr Musk said in a conference call after Tesla's second-quarter 2020 results that local procurement of parts could greatly improve the cost of vehicles produced at the Shanghai factory. At present, the proportion of local procurement is about 40%, which should reach 80% or more by the end of the year. It means that there is still room for further price reduction in Tesla's domestic Model 3. The domestic Model 3 is also about to adopt the power battery from the supplier of Ningde era.
