AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/17 Report--
Recently, a number of BYD E5 electric cars burned in a car-hailing parking lot in Jiangbei, Ningbo, resulting in vehicle losses. In response to the matter, BYD officials said they suspected arson.
Judging from the picture, a number of BYD E5 electric cars near the right wall in the parking lot burned together, and the scene was filled with smoke. At the same time, there is a clear gap between burning vehicles, so the cause of the fire is questionable.
On August 17, BYD officially released a "description of the burning of the Ningbo E5" and believed that the accident was caused by arson.
The full text of BYD's official statement on the incident--
At about 18:00 on August 15, 2020, in the car park of Cheyuanhui Network, Jiangbei District, Ningbo City, several e5s were burned at the same time, and there were no casualties at the scene. The customer immediately called the police, and the police have filed a criminal case.
According to preliminary investigation and understanding: there are no charging piles in the parking lot, and there is a gap between the parking places of the burned vehicles (excluding igniting each other). Regardless of whether it is a fire at the front or a fire at the rear, the burned vehicles are parked on the side of the wall in the park and catch fire first. Our personnel who rushed to the scene initially judged that the incident was not caused by a vehicle, but probably caused by arson along the concealment of the wall. The specific reasons need to be further investigated by the police, and we will continue to pay attention to them.
If the incident was caused by arson, it is not the first time BYD has suffered arson. In September 2019, BYD officials spoke out about an incident in which Tang New Energy was ignited. On October 9, 2019, Li Yunfei, deputy general manager of BYD Automobile sales Company, said that "the suspect has been detained."
We will also continue to pay attention to the relevant progress in this matter.
