A few days ago, Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd., in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products, filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. Decided to recall a total of 244800 imported and domestic Volvo cars from January 18, 2021.

Recall models:

(1) Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (a total of 102070 vehicles)

A total of 15 2007-2016 S80 vehicles were produced from February 7 to April 8, 2006; 41684 S80L vehicles were produced from 2009 to November 21, 2009; 33488 S60 vehicles were produced from May 21, 2010 to August 14, 2018; and 2 V70 vehicles were produced from March 14, 2008 to April 27, 2016. A total of 25594 2011-2018 V60 vehicles were produced from June 22 to August 27, 2010; 318 XC60 vehicles were produced from March 18, 2008 to April 22, 2016; and 2015-2018 V60CC vehicles were produced from December 4, 2014 to August 21, 2018, with a total of 969.

(2) Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (a total of 142730)

A total of 142730 S60L cars from 2014 to 2020 were produced from December 13, 2013 to December 23, 2019.

Reasons for recall:

For some vehicles within the scope of this recall, due to design reasons, if the seat belt fixed cable installed on the outside of the front seat is in a specific position, when the driver and front passenger enter the vehicle, the seatbelt fixing cable may exceed the yield strength of the cable after repeated bending, resulting in cable tension, long-term fatigue and wear may lead to cable fracture. When the vehicle collides, the seat belt restraint function may be affected, and in extreme cases, the seat belt restraint function may fail, which increases the risk of injury in the accident, and there is a safety hidden danger.

Solution:

Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will replace the improved front seat outside seat belt fixtures for vehicles within the recall range free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

Emergency measures: before vehicle recall and repair, drivers and front passengers are advised to ensure that the seat belt fasteners are in a vertical position consistent with the seat back direction when entering the vehicle, so that the seat belt fasteners will not bend to the seat cushions when the driver and front seat passengers sit on the seats, which can avoid damage to the seat belt fixtures.
