A few days ago, it was reported that Jaguar Land Rover will launch three models with 1.5T three-cylinder hybrid engine, which are expected to go on sale next year.

According to a production plan of Chery Jaguar Land Rover, the new car plan will include Land Rover Discovery Sports PHEV, Aurora PHEV and Jaguar E-PACE PHEV. From the configuration of the three models, it can be seen that all of them are equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of 1.5T three-cylinder engine and motor, the pure electric life is 69km, and the overall fuel consumption is 1.9L-2L/100km. Compared with the current 2.0T engine 7.7L/100km, the comprehensive fuel consumption is significantly reduced.

At the same time, according to the brand plan, Chery Jaguar Land Rover Changshu plant will adjust the existing vehicle production capacity, and the total production capacity will remain unchanged after the improvement, increasing the production capacity of 150000 plug-in hybrid models per year.

The three models launched this time, Land Rover found that the Sport PHEV, Aurora PHEV and Jaguar E-PACE PHEV are not much different from the fuel version in appearance, and can be said to be more power system changes. Among them, the domestic Discovery Sports PHEV model has completed the declaration work last month, named P300e; although the aurora PHEV model has not yet been declared, it has begun camouflage road tests in China; and the launch of the E-PACE PHEV will become the first plug-in hybrid model of the Jaguar brand.

For the current three-cylinder engine, the widespread shortcomings of jitter is also the reason why the current consumer market is more resistant, and the introduction of Jaguar Land Rover to the market with three-cylinder models as a luxury brand undoubtedly makes it difficult for some netizens to understand. after all, choosing a three-cylinder engine in order to reduce costs may damage the brand value of its luxury market, but also because the driving experience of the three-cylinder engine is unacceptable to consumers.

However, in terms of driving experience, the internal jitter of the currently used three-cylinder engine is much smaller than that of the fuel version of the vehicle, not only because of the great technical improvement of the current three-cylinder engine.

At the same time, because the hybrid model is equipped with two sets of power systems of three-cylinder engine and motor, when the jitter of the three-cylinder engine is more obvious at low speed, by using the high torque drive of the motor at low speed to avoid the jitter caused by the three-cylinder engine, so the hybrid mode is optimized and the plug-in hybrid vehicle with three-cylinder engine will not appear obvious jitter.

At present, many brands in the luxury market have become a trend through the strategy of "price for quantity". Therefore, Jaguar Land Rover, as a brand currently on the edge of the luxury market, may be able to explore a lower entry market through a lower threshold for car purchase, in order to achieve product competition in exchange for a certain amount of sales.
