AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/24 Report--
According to media reports, the XL, which was scheduled to go public on Aug. 24, has been postponed and is expected to go public during the Beijing auto show. According to previous reports, the biggest change in the new Marebo XL is the replacement of a 1.5T in-line four-cylinder engine, which is another SAIC GM model to return to the four-cylinder camp after Chevrolet Kruze and Buick Yinglang.
As a minor modification, there is no difference between the new Marebo XL and the cash model. The front face of the new car still adopts the design of double-layer forward air grille, and the long strips of LED lights on both sides are integrated with the upper grille. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4933mm/1854mm/1472mm and the wheelbase is 2829mm.
The biggest change of the new car is that it is equipped with a 1.5T four-cylinder engine that meets the national six emission standards, but the engine power data are general, with a maximum power of 119kw and a peak torque of 252N ·m. In terms of transmission system, what matches the engine is the 9AT gearbox. In addition, the 2.0T four-cylinder engine will continue to be used.
The Chevrolet Malibu XL was officially launched on February 27th, 2016, with 1.5T and 2.0L power options. As one of the main Chevrolet models in China, the Malibu XL once became a popular model in the B-class car market because of its excellent performance-to-price ratio, but since the launch of the replacement model in March last year, the Malibu XL has only been maintained at about 4000 vehicles.
As far as the Malibu XL model is concerned, after using the 1.3T three-cylinder engine, although the terminal has a greater discount and becomes the "price butcher" of the B-class car, there is no big improvement in sales, which is enough to see that the prejudice of consumers on the three-cylinder engine is much higher than the price discount, so for Mirebo, there may be a new way out only by adjusting the power system.
Can the sales growth of Malibu XL, which returns to the four-cylinder market? Maybe, on the contrary, SAIC GM has achieved good performance after replacing the power system of its models in recent months. Take Buick Yinglang as an example. After the four-cylinder model was officially launched in March this year, sales rebounded from April to June, with an increase of 97.4%, 55.9% and 99.1%, respectively. Yinglong sales with four-cylinder engines achieved immediate results. At present, the Chevrolet brand Corvoz and Cruze are equipped with four-cylinder engines to recover the market disadvantage, as the main Chevrolet models, also hope to return to the B-class market with four-cylinder engines.
Back to the XL, the current guiding price is that there is still a discount of about 30,000 yuan on the market, and the low price can only buy an ordinary joint venture A-class car. If this price can buy the Malibao XL with a 1.5T engine, the performance-to-price ratio is still relatively high.
Three-cylinder machine is a product strategy set by manufacturers to meet increasingly stringent fuel economy and emission regulations, but it is difficult for consumers to accept it at this stage, even if they make price concessions. For consumers, the matching of four-cylinder engines may be the lower limit of the car system. After the trial of the three-cylinder engine in recent years, perhaps the manufacturer will be more cautious about the use of the three-cylinder engine.
