According to the preliminary investigation after the special team arrived at the scene, there was no open fire or continuous smoke during the accident and treatment, which was not in line with the law of battery overheating. And based on the cleanliness of the inner and outer surfaces of the car, no carbonization stains caused by battery overheating were found. Therefore, it is judged that the deflagration accident is related to the placement of flammable liquid containing alcohol in the car.

At the same time, BAIC New Energy said that the special team is cooperating with the fire department to further investigate the detailed cause of the accident and will release it as soon as the specific cause is determined.

At about 11: 00 a.m. on August 20, a new energy vehicle parked in a charging shed in Sanming, Fujian, emitted smoke. at first, there was only thick smoke around the vehicle, but no open fire sprang out. When the firefighters arrived at the scene, the vehicle began to burst out. Firefighters then retreated to the side of the road to cool the vehicle with a water cannon. In the process, the vehicle exploded and body fragments were scattered everywhere under a strong impact. Fortunately, before the deflagration of the vehicle, all the vehicles and personnel parked around it had been evacuated in time, without causing too serious consequences.

However, for the car "flammable liquid containing alcohol" specific information, BAIC new energy has not been disclosed. At the same time, there are no more detailed findings on the causes of smoking during charging, as well as the situation of vehicles from smoke to explosion.

It is understood that the vehicle involved is the EX360 model launched by BAIC, which appeared on the market in March 2018, using the self-developed e-MotionDrive 2.0 super-efficient three-electric system, equipped with ternary nickel-cobalt lithium manganate battery provided by Funeng Technology, and continued 318km under NEDC conditions.
