Since the domestic market has wantonly promoted new energy vehicles, the problem of restricting its development has gradually become the concern of consumers. It is not only the recent frequent incidents of "spontaneous combustion", but also the high cost of battery replacement and environmental pollution that once again make consumers ponder.

According to CCTV, after the large-scale promotion and application of new energy vehicles in China around 2013, according to the service life of power batteries for 5 to 8 years, there will be a peak of scrapping around 2020, which means that the batteries of the first batch of new energy vehicles will be replaced. At the same time, the decommissioning of power batteries in China will also exceed 200000 tons.

For the initial new energy vehicles, the high price and practicality have become obstacles for consumers to choose, but because of the restrictions on the license of models and the more policy subsidies and concessions provided by the state, many consumers have made their choice of electric vehicles. At the same time, public transport has been replaced by a large number of new energy models. However, the five-to eight-year service life of the power batteries means that the power batteries of these models will be replaced.

The head of a local transportation group said the city of Changsha purchased the first pure electric buses in 2013, which have a scrapping cycle of eight years and will retire at the end of next year, CCTV reported. Large-scale procurement of pure electric buses began in 2015 and is expected to have decommissioned batteries on a large scale in 2023.

Although the power batteries disassembled from decommissioned electric vehicles and buses will be tested and evaluated by recycling enterprises. However, due to more power battery demand enterprises and less battery supply enterprises, the recycling of decommissioned power batteries is in short supply.

Data show that there are 208 power battery recycling-related enterprises in China, with 41 registered in the first seven months of this year. However, it is estimated that the decommissioning of power batteries in China will exceed 200000 tons in 2020, and the market scale will reach 17.5 billion yuan; by 2030, the market size will exceed 100 billion yuan.

However, some people in the industry pointed out that at present, the recovery rate of decommissioned power batteries is only 10% to 20%, so that the retired power battery recycling market is still not standardized, in the situation of "high price". And this part of the decommissioned power batteries come from the first batch of buses, taxis and other models that have been forcibly scrapped.

Experts say that as long as the remaining capacity of the power battery of new energy vehicles is reduced to less than 80% of the initial capacity, it will not be able to meet the requirements of vehicle use, and the power battery can be recycled.

As the first batch of power batteries ushered in the peak period of scrapping, how to deal with them has become a big problem. after all, if the power batteries are not properly disposed of after retirement, it will affect the environment and bring about hidden safety problems, resulting in a serious waste of resources.

According to the data, the domestic production and sales of new energy vehicles was about 70, 000 in 2014 and more than 300000 in 2015. Therefore, it is expected that the new energy vehicles that appeared in 2014 will gradually enter the scrapping period in recent years, which means that the number of scrapped batteries of domestic new energy vehicles will reach a new high in recent years.

Therefore, with the gradual peak of power battery retirement, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments have jointly issued the "detailed rules for the implementation of measures for the Recycling of scrapped Motor vehicles", which will come into effect on September 1, 2020. As a result, recycling enterprises are also increasing, including further standardizing and strengthening the recycling of power batteries.
