Volkswagen launched several recalls in China in 2020, and most of the recalled models were imported. A few days ago, Volkswagen announced another recall involving 34000 imported cars.

According to the official announcement, Volkswagen (China) sales Co., Ltd. and FAW-Volkswagen Motor Co., Ltd. have filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and decided to recall the following vehicles from September 1, 2020:

Some of the 2011-2015 imported Volkswagen Beetles, cool and golf cars produced during the period from May 2, 2011 to August 6, 2015, totaling 14800.

Some of the 2011-2012 models produced during the period from September 14, 2011 to June 14, 2012 imported Seattle brand Leon series cars, totaling 1084.

(2) FAW-Volkswagen Motor Co., Ltd.

Some of the 2011-2013 Audi A1 and A3 series cars produced during the period from February 8, 2011 to August 31, 2012 were imported, totaling 18497.

The reason for the recall: due to the manufacturing deviation of the supplier, the accumulator thread seat of the electromechanical unit of the gearbox has a thin thickness, which may cause micro-crack at the thread and cause the system oil pressure to drop under the condition of high oil pressure. this will trigger the dashboard warning light to light up. If the user ignores the alarm prompt and continues to use the vehicle, the power transmission may be affected with the development of time, and there are hidden dangers.

Solution: Volkswagen through authorized dealers, free of charge for the recall within the scope of the vehicle gearbox electromechanical unit software upgrade, in order to eliminate safety risks. In addition, for a small number of Audi brand vehicles that do not have applicable software for the time being, the upper shell of the electromechanical unit accumulator will be directly replaced in order to eliminate defects in time.

Volkswagen has launched several recall programs for imported cars this year.

On June 19 this year, Volkswagen decided to recall some of the 2020 Touareg cars manufactured between September 19, 2019 and October 9, 2019, a total of 600 Touareg cars; and some of the Audi Q8 and A8L cars manufactured between September 19, 2019 and December 9, 2019 imported 2019-2020 Audi Q8 and A8L cars.

The cause and solution of the recall are: due to the deviation in the manufacturing process of the supplier, the welding strength of the transmission oil cooler guide pipe is not up to standard, and the gearbox oil leakage may occur. If the gearbox oil leaks to the road during the driving of the vehicle, it may affect the normal driving of the rear car; if it is not dealt with in time, it may also lead to the damage of the gearbox or the loss of driving power of the vehicle, which may lead to safety risks. The authorized dealer will check the production date of the transmission oil cooler tubing for vehicles within the recall area free of charge, and replace the new tubing if it is confirmed as a problem batch.

On April 24 this year, Volkswagen announced a recall of more than 70,000 imported and domestic cars, including the Beatles, Shangku and Golf, as well as FAW-Volkswagen Suiteng, Maiteng and Bora, as well as SAIC-Volkswagen Tuan, Mingrui, Lang Yi, Passat and other domestic cars. Some vehicles within the scope of this recall use the upper shell of the electromechanical unit of the gearbox produced by a specific supplier within a certain period of time, and the thread of the fixed accumulator may crack in use and cause a drop in oil pressure. in some cases, the clutch is no longer coupled, resulting in the loss of driving power and safety risks.

From the above cases, Volkswagen recently recalled a small number of models in China, but there are some safety risks in the process of driving, car owners should go to the store as soon as possible to check and repair.
