Lutes, as a "supercar" brand, has been planning since Geely's acquisition. In order to accelerate the landing of the Lutes project, Geely Group decided to let Feng Jingfeng focus on the development of Lutes' global business after an overall evaluation.
According to Geely's latest personnel adjustment plan, Feng Jingfeng will no longer hold the position of Geely Marketing system, full-time as a director of Lutes Group, global CEO, responsible for the global business development of Lutes Group. Before that, Feng Jingfeng was responsible for the marketing of Geely brand and geometry brand, and Lin Jie, vice president of Geely Automobile Group and general manager of the sales company, will be in charge of it in the future.
According to public data, Feng Jingfeng joined Geely Automobile in 1999 and has served as General Manager of the Group sales Company, Deputy General Manager of Ningbo Company, Vice President of Geely Automobile Research Institute, Vice President of Geely Automobile Group, and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In February 2020, Feng Jingfeng was in charge of Geely Brand and Geometry Brand Marketing due to rotation adjustment.
In fact, Feng Jingfeng has been CEO of Lutes Group since June 2018. However, affected by the epidemic this year, the global layout of major automobile companies has been affected, Geely decided to let Feng Jingfeng focus on the development of Lutes' global business.
At the same time, behind a decision, Geely Holdings may be preparing for Lutes' upcoming domestic project. According to the news exposed by Lutes, the Lutes project, which was launched in March this year at the Wuhan base, will be completed and put into production in April 2022, followed by the launch of three new models, including SUV and cars. It includes a medium and large SUV (including fuel, plug-in hybrid and pure electric power), a medium-sized pure electric SUV and a medium-and large-sized pure electric car.
As one of the three major sports car brands in the world, Lutes has a history of more than 70 years and has created countless track legends in its deep racing pedigree. Created a lot of classic sports cars, such as Esprit, Lotus 7, Elan and other models.
Geely Holdings bought 49.9 per cent of PROTON Holding, owned by Malaysia's DRB-HICOM Group, and 51 per cent of luxury sports car brand Lotus Group, for about Rmb1.17 billion in June 2017. At this point, Geely officially expanded its "territory" to the Southeast Asian market. After joining Geely Group, Lutes' every move has aroused great concern both inside and outside the industry and in the domestic market.
Thanks to a comprehensive cost carding after Geely's acquisition of Lutes, Lutes made its first profit in 40 years, when annual sales rose to 1600 vehicles, a peak not seen in years. In 2018, it broke its own record, with global sales of 1630 vehicles, a slight increase on the basis of basically maintaining the 2017 level, and the overall profit level once again greatly improved.
As for the development of Lutes, Feng Jingfeng previously said that after Geely Holdings acquired Lutes, it positioned it as an entrepreneur with a history of more than 70 years, which meant that Lutes would start a new business and re-build its brand. Among them, the Evija, the first all-electric supercar unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show, will be the first shot to reshape the Lutes brand.
