According to the State Administration of Market Supervision, in August, the domestic passenger car market issued eight announcements, involving Volvo, Chery, Great Wall and other eight brands, a total of 566272 vehicles were recalled, down 55.7% from a year earlier. Among them, Volvo reached the top, Chery and Great Wall ranked second and third, with three brands accounting for 90% of the total recall.

Volvo topped the list with a recall of 244800 vehicles, the second time Volvo has reached the top since March. According to the recall in that month, the recall covers a number of models sold in China, including S80, S80L, S60, V70, V60, V60CC, XC60, S60L. The recall is due to design reasons, which may lead to wear and fracture of seat belt fastening cables and safety risks to the restraint function.

It is understood that the August recall in China is part of Volvo's global recall. In early July, Volvo launched the largest recall in global history. In addition to 244800 vehicles recalled in the Chinese market, the above product problems also include 412000 vehicles recalled in Sweden, 308000 vehicles in the United States and 178000 vehicles in Germany.

Volvo's safety is obvious in the industry, but Volvo had no idea that it would "roll over" on its seat belt.

Chery and Great Wall, the second and third domestic brands, recalled 190352 and 71319 cars respectively in August. Among them, Chery's engine ECU control unit may lead to internal circuit corrosion, in extreme cases, the vehicle may not be able to start or power interruption, Chery recalled 190352 Ruihu 5 models at one time; Great Wall announced the recall of 71319 Great Wall gun pickup trucks with "broken trailer hooks", almost all sales since the launch of the model.

Compared with these two recalls, the Great Wall Gun is more noteworthy. In early August, a video of the Great Wall gun trailer hook breaking during a cross-country rescue went viral online, prompting many netizens to question its product design. Great Wall Automobile also quickly issued a statement that it would make enhanced upgrades to the trailer hooks of vehicles that have been sold, are for sale and are in production, and promised a free lifetime warranty for the trailer hooks.

Great Wall Motor will recall 71319 Great Wall guns on Aug. 28. In view of product defects, Great Wall Motor will eliminate safety risks by replacing the new version of the electronic instructions, attaching warning labels to the trailer hooks in conspicuous positions and upgrading the technical services of the trailer hooks free of charge.

In addition, Volkswagen (China) and FAW-Volkswagen recalled a total of 34381 vehicles, including Volkswagen cool, Beatles, Golf, Seattle Lyon, Audi A1 and A3, due to the thin thickness of the accumulator threaded seat of the gearbox electromechanical unit. Mercedes-Benz (China) and Fujian Mercedes-Benz recalled a total of 9118 domestic V-Class, Weiting, imported C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS-Class, GLC SUV and AMG GT vehicles, including hidden problems with the transmission shaft, turbocharger oil supply and unfastened return pipe bolts, and ESP may not be suitable for installed brakes.

When consumers buy a car, in addition to paying attention to the performance advantages, the reliability of product quality and the responsible attitude of manufacturers to customers are also one of the criteria for consumers to buy cars. Although the recall measures reflect the responsible attitude of the brand to a certain extent, the car recall also reflects the fact that there are problems with the products. For consumers, the reliability of product quality is much higher than the level of performance, which is related to the safety of car owners to a certain extent.
