Within a week, Volkswagen launched two recalls in China, involving a total of 37000 imported cars, including the Volkswagen brand, Siat and Audi.

1. High temperature deformation of sealing strip

FAW-Volkswagen Motor Co., Ltd. decided to recall some imported 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Audi A8 and S8 cars produced from June 15, 2012 to October 5, 2017, totaling 2854.

The reason for the recall: the sealing strip of the engine cabin seal of the vehicle within the scope of this recall may be deformed due to high temperature, and the engine cabin seal may be deformed or loose during the operation of the vehicle. When vibration occurs during the operation of the vehicle, the loose engine cabin seal may come into contact with the high temperature parts in the engine cabin, resulting in excessive temperature of the seal and adjacent parts in the engine cabin, and may catch fire in extreme cases. There is a safety risk.

Solution: FAW-Volkswagen Co., Ltd. will entrust Audi to authorize dealers to install fixed plates for vehicles within the recall range free of charge to prevent engine compartment seals from loosening, so as to eliminate safety risks.

II. Software upgrade of gearbox electromechanical unit

Volkswagen (China) and FAW-Volkswagen decided to recall the following vehicles from September 1, 2020:

Some of the 2011-2015 imported Volkswagen Beetles, cool and golf cars produced during the period from May 2, 2011 to August 6, 2015, totaling 14800.

Some of the 2011-2012 models produced during the period from September 14, 2011 to June 14, 2012 imported Seattle brand Leon series cars, totaling 1084.

Some of the 2011-2013 Audi A1 and A3 series cars produced during the period from February 8, 2011 to August 31, 2012 were imported, totaling 18497.

The reason for the recall: due to the manufacturing deviation of the supplier, the accumulator thread seat of the electromechanical unit of the gearbox has a thin thickness, which may cause micro-crack at the thread and cause the system oil pressure to drop under the condition of high oil pressure. this will trigger the dashboard warning light to light up. If the user ignores the alarm prompt and continues to use the vehicle, the power transmission may be affected with the development of time, and there are hidden dangers.

Solution: Volkswagen through authorized dealers, free of charge for the recall within the scope of the vehicle gearbox electromechanical unit software upgrade, in order to eliminate safety risks. In addition, for a small number of Audi brand vehicles that do not have applicable software for the time being, the upper shell of the electromechanical unit accumulator will be directly replaced in order to eliminate defects in time.

In 2020, Volkswagen has launched many recalls in China, most of which are imported cars.

On June 19 this year, Volkswagen decided to recall 600 imported Touareg cars and 620 imported Audi Q8 and A8L cars from 2019 to 2020. Because the welding strength of the oil guide pipe of the gearbox oil cooler is not up to the standard, the gearbox oil leakage may occur.

On April 24 this year, Volkswagen announced a recall of more than 70,000 imported and domestic cars, including the Beatles, Shangku and Golf, as well as FAW-Volkswagen Suiteng, Maiteng and Bora, as well as SAIC-Volkswagen Tuan, Mingrui, Lang Yi, Passat and other domestic cars. These vehicles use the upper shell of the electromechanical unit of the gearbox produced by a specific supplier within a certain period of time, and the thread of the fixed accumulator may crack in use and cause the oil pressure to drop, and in some cases, the clutch is no longer coupled, causing the vehicle to lose driving power.

From the above cases, Volkswagen recently recalled a small number of models in China, but there are some safety risks in the process of driving, car owners should go to the store as soon as possible to inspect and repair the vehicles to eliminate the hidden dangers.
