AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/04 Report--

Less than a month later, Volvo launched another recall, but the reason for such a low-level recall should not have happened to Volvo cars.

Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, according to a recall notice issued by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on Sept. 4, 2020. it was decided to recall a total of 135316 vehicles from September 4, 2020.

(1) Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will recall 135162 domestic XC60 vehicles produced from May 20, 2017 to May 27, 2020, and (2) Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will recall 2018-2020 imported XC60 vehicles produced from May 20, 2017 to May 27, 2020.

The reason for the recall is that the installation parameters of the windshield windshield wiper arm nut are set incorrectly, resulting in insufficient fastening torque. Due to the torque deviation of the windshield windshield wiper arm nut, the nut is likely to be loosened. When a problem occurs, if you continue to use the front windshield wiper, the wiper arm may wear out. Abnormal noise may occur if the windshield windshield wiper arm touches the hood. In extreme cases, the function of front windshield wiper may be reduced or even lost, which will affect the line of sight, increase the risk of accidents and lead to safety risks.

Based on this, Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will tighten the windshield windshield wiper arm nuts for vehicles within the scope of the recall to eliminate safety risks.

Volvo, known as the "safest car in the world" brand, has also won the favor of many consumers. However, judging from the performance in recent years, Volvo cars have gone further and further away from the "safest" label, especially in this recall, 135316 XC60 cars were recalled due to the wrong nut installation parameters, and such a low-level mistake should not have happened to Volvo cars known for their safety.

It is worth mentioning that Volvo has just conducted a large recall in three months, and the interval between the two recalls is less than a month. On August 18, Volvo recalled 244800 vehicles, including S80, S80L, S60, V70, V60, V60CC, XC60, S60L, due to design reasons, which may lead to wear and fracture of seat belt fastening cables and safety risks to the restraint function.

In addition to the Chinese market, the above product problems have also recalled 412000 vehicles in the Swedish market, 308000 in the United States, 178000 in Germany and 169000 in the United Kingdom, with a total of 2.1837 million Volvo vehicles worldwide, the largest recall in Volvo's history.

Volvo's car sales in China rose 11.4 per cent to 15835 in August and 1.5 per cent to 95986 from January to August, according to the latest figures. While Volvo's sales are growing, safety is no longer the highlight of the brand's competition, but a "bright spot" of the brand's complaints. While pursuing the rapid growth of sales, it is not advisable to ignore the problems and defects of products. Only with higher product services and quality can we establish a correct brand image and achieve more long-term development.
