"Volvo recalls 380000 cars" suddenly went viral on Weibo after Volvo filed two recalls with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration within a month, recalling a total of 380116 vehicles, mostly covering models sold in China.

On August 18, Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and decided to recall imported and domestic Volvo cars from January 18, 2011. a total of 244800 cars.

(1) Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (a total of 102070 vehicles)

A total of 15 2007-2016 S80 vehicles were produced from February 7 to April 8, 2006; 41684 S80L vehicles were produced from 2009 to November 21, 2009; 33488 S60 vehicles were produced from May 21, 2010 to August 14, 2018; and 2 V70 vehicles were produced from March 14, 2008 to April 27, 2016. A total of 25594 2011-2018 V60 vehicles were produced from June 22 to August 27, 2010; 318 XC60 vehicles were produced from March 18, 2008 to April 22, 2016; and 2015-2018 V60CC vehicles were produced from December 4, 2014 to August 21, 2018, with a total of 969.

(2) Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (a total of 142730)

A total of 142730 S60L cars from 2014 to 2020 were produced from December 13, 2013 to December 23, 2019.

The reason for the recall is that the seat belt fixing cable installed on the outside of the front seat is in a specific position, and when the driver and the front passenger enter the vehicle, the seatbelt fixing cable may exceed the yield strength of the cable after repeated bending, resulting in cable tension. long-term fatigue and wear may lead to cable fracture. When the vehicle collides, the seat belt restraint function may be affected, and in extreme cases, the seat belt restraint function may fail, which increases the risk of injury in the accident, and there is a safety hidden danger.

Based on this, Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will replace the improved front seat outside seat belt fixtures for vehicles within the recall range free of charge, in order to eliminate safety risks.

There are still three months to go before the recall, so before the vehicle recall and repair, the manufacturer advises drivers and front passengers to ensure that the seat belt fasteners are in a vertical position consistent with the direction of the seat back. in this way, when the driver and the front passenger sit on the seat, the seat belt fastener will not bend to the seat cushion, which can avoid damage to the seat belt fastener.

Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on September 4, 2020, and decided to recall a total of 135316 vehicles from September 4, 2020.

(1) Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will recall a total of 135162 domestic XC60 vehicles produced from May 20, 2017 to May 27, 2020.

(2) Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will recall a total of 154imported XC60 vehicles produced from May 20, 2017 to May 27, 2020.

The reason for the recall is that the installation parameters of the windshield windshield wiper arm nut are set incorrectly, resulting in insufficient fastening torque. Due to the torque deviation of the windshield windshield wiper arm nut, the nut is likely to be loosened. When a problem occurs, if you continue to use the front windshield wiper, the wiper arm may wear out. Abnormal noise may occur if the windshield windshield wiper arm touches the hood. In extreme cases, the function of front windshield wiper may be reduced or even lost, which will affect the line of sight, increase the risk of accidents and lead to safety risks.

Based on this, Volvo Automobile sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will tighten the windshield windshield wiper arm nuts for vehicles within the scope of the recall to eliminate safety risks.

According to the data, Volvo's cumulative car sales in China increased by 18% to 154559 in 2019 and 1.5% to 95986 from January to August 2020. Volvo recalled more than all sales in China in nearly a year and a half within a month.

In fact, Volvo is in an awkward position.
