Following the 7.7% year-on-year growth of the domestic passenger car market in July, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers estimated that the passenger car market will still grow 4.4% year-on-year.

From the previous announcement of the performance of a number of car companies, many mainstream car companies have achieved strong growth. Today, the two independent brands Geely and BYD have also released August production and sales data, of which Geely brands achieved strong growth, while BYD also showed a slight increase.

Geely: achieve the sales target of 57%

According to Geely's sales report, new car sales in August were 113443, up about 12 per cent from a year earlier, with cumulative sales of 7.49107 billion from January to August, down about 11.2 per cent from a year earlier. Geely has achieved 57% of its annual sales target of 1.32 million vehicles and is still under pressure in the second half of the year.

In mid-August, Geely sold 38500 cars, of which Dihao accounted for 21000; SUV sold 71600, of which Boyue and Boyue PRO accounted for 20700. The Geely Haoyue medium-sized SUV, which went public at the end of June, doubled its sales, from 6500 to 11900.

In addition, Lecker sold 17100 cars in August, up 56 per cent from a year earlier. At present, Lecker has four models: 01, 02, 03 and 05, and 06 small SUV will be on the market this year. And become the best performing brand under Geely.

In terms of new energy, Geely also welcomed a 3 per cent month-on-month increase in new energy after the official launch of Geometry's first pure electric SUV Geometry C, with a total sales of 6609 vehicles in August.

As the domestic market enters the stage of stock competition, Geely's road to expansion is also hindered. Geely also decided to cut its annual sales target of 1.41 million vehicles from 6 per cent to 1.32 million.

This is the second time Geely has lowered its sales target due to the influence of the market after 2019. Last year, Geely lowered its annual sales target by 10% from 1.51 million to 1.36 million.

BYD: two consecutive months of year-on-year growth

According to BYD, KuaiBao sold 36782 new cars in August, up 2.15 per cent from a year earlier. Among them, new energy vehicle sales were 15283, down 8.59 per cent from the same period last year; and fuel vehicle sales were 21499, up 11.45 per cent from the same period last year. From January to August, cumulative sales of 226792 vehicles, down 23.14% from the same period last year.

Although BYD's performance is not outstanding compared with most of the car company data that first released August sales, it is the first time that BYD has achieved "regular" sales growth since July, and achieved double growth compared with the same period.

Affected by the market and the epidemic in the first half of the year, new energy models under the brand were frequently "defeated" by fuel models, and experienced a decline for 12 consecutive months. The growth in sales since the second half of the year also means that the new energy market has recovered to a certain extent. Help brands achieve a certain rebound.

As the brand's latest flagship model, Han EV, has climbed up the market, it has grown from 1205 in July to 4000 in August (including EV and DM versions). So far, it has delivered a total of 5205 vehicles, a relatively significant increase.

After the strong growth in July, the car market still maintained a small growth in August, although it belongs to the off-season of the same industry, but can have such a performance to prove the strong recovery of the domestic market. As for the general saying of the upcoming industry "Golden Nine and Silver Ten", whether the market can be continued will also be a concern both inside and outside the industry.
