According to the report of the Passenger Car Federation, the retail sales of passenger car market reached 1.703 million vehicles in August, an increase of 8.9% compared with August last year, which is the strongest positive growth since May 2018, reflecting the positive growth of many automobile enterprises in August under the trend of rapid recovery of the industry.

In August, the passenger car market, driven by cars and SUV models, also saw a small increase in MPV models. Among them, the sales volume of cars was 822,000, with a year-on-year growth of 8.3% and a month-on-month growth of 6.5%; the sales volume of UV was 782,000, with a year-on-year growth of 10.7% and a month-on-month growth of 6.9%; and the sales volume of MPV was 99,000, with a year-on-year growth of 0.9% and a month-on-month growth of 3.5%. The association pointed out that under the dual drive of consumption upgrading and luxury car price exploration, luxury brands entered the boom range, and the sales volume of self-owned brands also rose under the promotion of the policy of automobile going to the countryside.

In the field of cars, there is no obvious change in the list of best-selling cars in August. The top three positions are still stable, occupied by Dongfeng Nissan Xuanyi, SAIC Volkswagen New Lavida and FAW Toyota Corolla respectively. Among them, the sales volume of Nissan Xuanyi in August reached 47,000 vehicles, with a year-on-year growth of 43.4%. The strategy effect of selling new and old models in the same room is obvious. Volkswagen Lavida lost to Nissan for three consecutive months, selling 42,900 vehicles in the month, but compared with the sales gap of the previous two months, it is worth noting that in July this year, SAIC Volkswagen launched a three-year 7.5% discount repurchase policy for Lavida cars. Toyota Corolla sales steadily ranked third, August sales of 33,500 vehicles, four consecutive months of growth.

The growth performance of Volkswagen brand and Japanese mainstream cars remained the same in August, with sales stable at more than 20,000 units. In addition to the small growth rate of Civic Bora, Volkswagen's Sagitar and shared Rayling achieved obvious double-digit growth. In addition, Buick Yinglang has added a 1.5L four-cylinder model while maintaining huge terminal discounts, and sales continue to rise at present.

Compared with joint venture brands, the performance of independent brands in August this year was relatively superior, among which Dihao and Yidong achieved a sharp increase in sales volume. The sales volume of Dihao in August was 20,000 vehicles, with a year-on-year growth of 33.7%; while Chang 'an Yidong achieved a growth of nearly 70%.

Of course, luxury brand models often appear in the sedan market this year, which also reflects the continued growth momentum of luxury cars. Among them, BMW 5 Series sold 17132 vehicles in August and Audi A6L sold 16992 vehicles, ranking many times in the best-selling list of the month.

In August, the SUV market performed more prominently after the epidemic, achieving year-on-year growth for five consecutive months. Among them, the independent brand is still in the advantage of being stronger than the joint venture brand. Except Honda CR-V, the top 5 are all independent brand models.

The first is still the Haval H6 model, with cumulative sales of 25,900 vehicles in August, up 15.8% year-on-year. Perhaps because Chang 'an since the launch of CS75PLUS model, the gap between the two is getting closer and closer, even threatening its crown position.

Haval has recently brought the third generation of H6 models, launching four models equipped with 1.5T engines at a price of 115,900 - 134,900 yuan. The appearance and interior of the new car have changed greatly, and it is hoped to extend the H6 product line through the same-hall sales strategy so as to strengthen the market competition.

Another autonomous model on the list is the Roewe RX5, which has continued to grow since the launch of the RX5 PLUS model in June. Sales volume reached 19982 vehicles in August, up 70.5% year-on-year. It can be seen that the centralized upgrading of head-independent models has gradually improved the competitiveness of products, and the sales volume has increased.

In contrast, Volkswagen and Japanese brands of joint venture brands have declined to a certain extent. Tiguan and Tanyue, once strong on the list, have fallen to No.6 and No.7, with sales of 17692 and 16240 vehicles respectively, down 0.7% and 3.2% year-on-year. However, Nissan Qijun and Xiaoke are relatively backward due to their relatively backward products. Even under the large terminal discount, it is difficult to maintain high sales volume continuously. The sales volume of the two models in August is 15304 and 14061 respectively, becoming the two models with the largest decline degree among the models on the list.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q5 entered the list with monthly sales of 15408 and 13461 respectively, continuing to confirm the rapid growth of the luxury car market.

MPV market, and the previous performance is different, August MPV market finally ushered in a rare positive growth, the top 15 list models, achieve year-on-year growth models accounted for 60%. Among them, the growth of high-end MPV models is the most obvious, Buick GL8, Honda Alishen and Chuanqi GM8 have achieved substantial growth, even a three-digit explosion. It reflects the change of market environment and gradually inclines towards medium and high-end consumption or high-end exchange purchase.

In contrast, the trend of many models declined in terms of autonomous MPV, and the market performance of most models was relatively low. Wuling Hongguang, which is the first in this field, also experienced an 8.2% year-on-year decline, with sales of 22877 vehicles in the month.

Throughout the model market in August this year, the head brand and products remain strong. With the recovery of the automobile market, the sales volume of most models still keeps increasing, especially in the current traditional off-season environment, reflecting the obvious trend of market differentiation, and the weaker brands and products are further suppressed. However, as the traditional off-season period has passed and the upcoming National Day Golden Week, the market may be further promoted.
