In the automotive product recall, the largest recall is airbags, almost every foreign brand has been recalled because of airbags. Recently, Honda Technology Research Industry (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Automobile Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and decided to recall a total of 16304 models from September 14, 2020.

Honda Technical Research: recall some imported ACCORD, CR-V, LEGEND, LOGO and ODYSSEY cars produced between March 17, 1997 and December 14, 1999, totaling 5918.

Guangzhou Auto Honda: recall some domestic Accord (ACCORD) cars produced between October 24, 1998 and December 31, 1999, a total of 10386 vehicles.

The reasons for the recall are all due to defects made by the airbag supplier, and the moistureproof measures of the gas generator containing non-sodium azide (NADI) in the driver's seat airbag are not complete. In the course of use, under the influence of repeated changes in temperature and humidity, the gas generating agent may be deteriorated by moisture, which may cause the airbag not to be deployed normally, and the gas generator may be abnormally damaged when the airbag is deployed, resulting in debris flying out and injuring the people in the car. There is a security risk.

In view of the above product defects, Honda Technology Research and Guangzhou Auto Honda will replace the improved gas generators for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

In recent months, there have been a lot of recalls of automobile products caused by airbag problems. On September 4, GAC Changfeng Motor filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration and decided to recall a total of 7 Cheetah cars produced during the period from September 1, 1997 to August 1, 1998 from November 1, 2020. Mitsubishi Motor sales (China) Co., Ltd. also decided to recall a total of 482 imported Lanser, Pajero and Delica cars produced during the period from April 8, 1996 to September 25, 1999, starting from November 1, 2020.

Earlier, Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. decided to recall a total of 241 imported RAV4 series cars produced during the period from June 13, 1997 to February 12, 1999 from September 30, 2020. The reasons for the above three recalls are different from those of Honda Technical Research / Guangzhou Automobile Honda, all of which were recalled because of hidden dangers in airbags.

It is worth noting that most of the models involved in the above recall were produced in the late 1990s and are likely to have been scrapped after more than 20 years. Therefore, compared with the causes of the recall and the solutions to product defects, netizens are more concerned about whether these vehicles are still in use, even if they are not scrapped, and whether the car owners can successfully drive to the 4S store is also a problem.
