AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/13 Report--

The momentum of continued growth in the luxury car market continued, with a number of brands rising sharply year-on-year in August. Retail sales of luxury cars rose 32% in August from a year earlier, up 3% from July, and their market share hit an all-time high of 15%, according to a report by the federation of passengers.

From the newly released ranking of luxury brand sales in August, the first-tier BBA has a solid position, and BMW won the top sales of the month; the second-tier has changed greatly, with the sales of the independent luxury brand "Red Flag" rising sharply and surpassing Volvo into the top three places in the second tier; at the same time, the sales of domestic Model 3 have risen sharply, and Tesla has also risen rapidly.

According to Shanghai Insurance, BMW sold 77099 vehicles in China in August, up 41.8% from a year earlier, surpassing Mercedes-Benz and Audi to win the top spot in luxury brand sales that month. BMW's main selling models are 3-series, 5-series and X3, while superimposed terminal offers of X1, X2, 1-series and other models, finally ushered in a rise in sales and reached the top of the luxury car market.

As the revamped 3 series and 5 series have been listed recently, the terminal concessions of cash models have also been further liberalized, and sales have increased significantly. Among them, the BMW 5-Series sold 17000 vehicles in August, surpassing the Audi A6L and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The new BMW 3-Series went on sale in early September, launching nine models, including the standard wheelbase version and the long wheelbase version, with a price range of 29.39-409900 yuan. The power continues to be powered by a 2.0T engine with three different power adjustments: 320i/Li (156hp), 325i/Li (184hp) and 330i/Li (258hp). The new BMW 5-Series will go on sale during the Beijing auto show, which opens at the end of September.

Mercedes-Benz sales also increased significantly, with sales of 73785 vehicles in August, up 23.3% from a year earlier, ranking second. Sales of the Mercedes-Benz brand have continued to rise because of its high premium, but some of the brand's recent moves have been controversial, such as the large-scale popularity of small-engine turbocharged engines. At present, the A-class, GLA and GLB of Mercedes-Benz are equipped with 1.3T and double clutch power system, while the C-class and E-class are mainly 1.5T and 48V light hybrid power system. At the same time, the newly launched Mercedes-Benz G350 also uses 2.0T four-cylinder power, which is officially priced at 1.4298 million yuan.

Data show that Mercedes-Benz E-Class, C-Class and GLC all sold about 15000 vehicles in August, providing a stable source of sales for the Mercedes-Benz brand. Mercedes-Benz GLB sold 5502 vehicles that month.

Audi market position further decline, and BMW, Mercedes-Benz sales gap is obvious. Audi sold 69233 vehicles in china in august, up 24.5% from a year earlier, a gap of 7866 compared with BMW's monthly sales. Audi brand in the BBA top three terminal discount strength is relatively large, but the market performance is not as good as the former two.

Through the layout of a number of new cars and strengthening localization, Audi intends to seek a rapid increase in sales. This year, Audi will launch domestic A3 hatchback version / A3 hatchback extended version, while domestic Audi e-tron and Audi Q5 Sportback are also expected to be listed.

In terms of second-tier luxury brands, Lexus continues to take the lead, followed by Cadillac, followed by the independent luxury brand Red Flag.

The price of the luxury car market continues to decline, and the terminal greatly allows interest concessions to become the norm, which is also one of the important reasons for the continued growth of the luxury car market. On the other hand, Lexus does the opposite, the terminal discount is relatively small, and there is even a phenomenon of price increase in some popular models. After all, there are not many brands selling cars with price increases these days. In August, Lexus sold 21781 vehicles, up 27.6% from a year earlier.

Cadillac lost the title again, with sales of 21728 vehicles in august, up 62.4% from a year earlier, with a very small gap with Lexus that month. The difference is that "price for volume" seems to have cost Cadillac, and Cadillac is under pressure from Lexus's steady growth after losing the top spot in second-tier luxury sales.

The highlight of August was that the Red Flag brand surpassed Volvo into the top three places. Hongqi sold 18094 vehicles in August, an increase of 112.5% over the same period last year. With the launch of a number of mid-and high-end models, the momentum of Hongqi's growth is also obvious. There has always been a dilemma in the impact of independent brands on the high-end road, and the changes in Hongqi brand image, products and market positioning have also led to higher sales.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that the sales growth of Tesla and Lincoln brands is also a bright spot in the luxury car market. With the hot sales of domestic Model 3, the car has become the single model with the largest monthly sales in the new energy vehicle market, and further boosted Tesla's sales in China.

Sales of the Lincoln brand have also increased significantly after the launch of two domestic models. In August, the Lincoln brand sold 6197 new cars, an increase of 66.2% over the same period last year, which is also the best result since the brand entered China. Among them, the new Lincoln adventurer, newly listed in China, sold 3600 vehicles in August, accounting for 58 per cent of the brand. According to the new car plan, Lincoln will make 1-2 models every year.

In addition, Jaguar Land Rover sold 8259 vehicles in August, up 5.3% from a year earlier; NIO, a high-end new energy brand with independent new power, sold 3938 vehicles, up 97.9% from a year earlier; Infiniti was the only brand on the list, with sales of 2619 vehicles in August, down 15.9% from a year earlier.

The continued prosperity of the luxury car market will continue, thanks to the high-end demand for upgraded consumption and the price advantage brought about by the falling discounted prices of luxury models, further boosting the market share of luxury cars. The highlight of the luxury car market this year is what position will the market sales of the independent brand "Red Flag" jump to?
