However, with the gradual recovery of the domestic market, coupled with the strong growth of the luxury market, many imported models have achieved year-on-year growth in sales.
From the analysis of the brand structure of imported cars, the overall pattern is stable, and the front seat is still occupied by better-selling brand models such as Lexus, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Among them, sales of the Lexus brand remain strong, accounting for three of the top ten imported models.
As Lexus has not been localized in the domestic market, all its models sold in China are imported. Among them, its ES and RX sold 69000 and 29700 vehicles respectively from January to August, both achieving double-digit year-on-year growth. Among them, Lexus ES undoubtedly has the absolute advantage to occupy the first place in the list of single model sales of imported models. At the same time, due to the best-selling Lexus in China, its NX also entered the top 10 with 22500 vehicles.
As similar models, the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE also achieved a sharp increase in sales due to the strong performance of the domestic luxury market, rising to 29000 and 25000 respectively by 34.7% and 35.5% respectively compared with the same period last year. It has to be said that domestic Mercedes-Benz and BMW brands achieve sales growth due to lower barriers, but as imported models also show strong growth, reflecting their strong brand effect.
Second only to the above two models is the Porsche Macan, which helped to improve the model slightly with lower barriers to purchase and higher brand effect, selling a total of 23800 vehicles in the first eight months.
In the same SUV market, there are also significant changes in different models, including Porsche Cayenne, XC90, Mercedes-Benz GLS, Prado and Rand Cool Luze. Among them, due to limited emission standards, Toyota Prado and Lande Cool Luze models showed a more obvious decline.
As the domestic SUV market is more popular with consumers, the sales of luxury brands in the car market are also relatively low, such as the S-Class of Mercedes-Benz, the BMW 7-Series, Audi A8 and the more effective Porsche Panamera. Among them, the sales of the BMW 7-Series increased by 26.6% due to product replacement.
In addition, among the sales of imported single models, Toyota's Elfa showed the strongest growth trend, with an increase of 68.2% over the same period last year, reflecting the gradual increase in the proportion of high-end MPV models in the domestic consumer market.
Throughout the luxury car market this year, it can be said that it has performed quite well, but the impact of the epidemic has also had a great impact on some imported models, not only because the delay in supply and demand has led to a reduction in product delivery, but also because some models have stopped production due to emission problems, resulting in a decline in sales. However, "the performance of the strong and the weak" is also reflected in the imported luxury market.
