Polestar, an electric vehicle maker owned by Volvo and its parent Geely Holdings Group, will recall all new Polestar 2 models due to software errors, foreign media INSIDEEVs reported. The recall involved 2200 vehicles that had been delivered, the report said.
According to related reports, the Polestar 2 began to be delivered to European users at the end of July this year, but many car owners reported that the Polestar 2 malfunction caused the vehicle to be unable to drive. At present, car owners in Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and other countries have reflected the failure of Polestar 2 to drive, but fortunately, there have been no casualties.
It should be no stranger to Polestar, which was born in Shanghai in October 2017. it is an independent high-performance electric brand of Volvo. According to Tianyanchao, Polar Polestar is 100% owned by Beichen Automobile (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., while Geely and Volvo each own 50% of Beichen Automobile, so it is a brand jointly owned by Volvo Automobile Group and Zhejiang Geely holding Group.
At present, Polar Polestar has two mass production products, Polestar 1 and Polestar 2, of which Polestar 2 is the first electric vehicle product based on Volvo CMA architecture. In power, Polestar 2 is equipped with front and rear double motors, the comprehensive maximum output power is 300kW (408PS), and the peak torque is 660N ·m.
According to the release plan of Polestar 2, the initial version of 418000 yuan should be on a par with the performance version of Model 3, and the basic version with a price of less than 300000 yuan will compete with Tesla's standard continued version of Model 3.
Star Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said in August that Polestar 2 will achieve its goal of selling 50, 000 vehicles a year within three years, but judging from the current market environment, there may be some variables in the future performance of Polestar 2 in the domestic market.
Tesla's domestic Model 3 is already the de facto benchmark for electric vehicles, with monthly sales of more than 10,000 vehicles. On October 1st, Tesla cut the price again, bringing the price of the standard continued version to 249900 yuan and the long-lasting version to 309000 yuan, which undoubtedly brought no small shock to the domestic electric vehicle market. Even if Polestar 2 launches the basic version of 300000 yuan, it is facing direct competition.
Polestar 2 relies on Volvo's architectural development, and it does have great advantages in technology, safety and design, and it can also hang products of China's own brands, but in recent years, independent brands and new car-building forces have undergone changes in technology and new retail methods, which has put Polestar 2 under pressure.
