Recently, Tesla officially announced the global delivery volume in the third quarter of 2020. According to the data, Tesla delivered 139300 new cars worldwide in the third quarter of this year, of which 15200 were delivered for the Model Spurt X model and 124100 for the Model 3Universe Y model, breaking the record of 112000 set in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Some industry insiders said that Tesla's innovative record of delivery in the third quarter is also closely related to the contribution of the Chinese market. Tesla's best-selling model Model 3 in China sold 11811 vehicles in the month, with a cumulative sales of 68579 in the previous eight months, according to August model sales data released by the Federation of passengers. In addition, after the commissioning of the second phase of Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory, the output is expected to increase from 150000 to 300000 vehicles, and it is also planned to launch a new SUV Model Y with a larger space than Model 3, which has many parts and Model 3 that are universal, further reducing costs and being the most competitive A Hong for the first time in China.

However, although Tesla set a delivery record in the third quarter, the annual sales target is still uncertain. According to previous data, Tesla delivered 88400 vehicles in the first quarter and 90560 vehicles in the second quarter of this year. Taking into account the delivery volume of 139300 vehicles in the third quarter, Tesla sold only 318350 vehicles this year. The delivery target set at the beginning of the year is 500000 vehicles, which means that Tesla needs to deliver more than 181650 vehicles in the fourth quarter. The delivery volume in the third quarter of this year has set a new record. There is obviously a lot of pressure to raise the level of 40,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter.

The contribution of the Chinese market largely determines Tesla's performance in the fourth quarter. Not long ago, Tesla just reduced the price of the domestic Model 3. The price of the standard battery life upgrade version of the Model 3 was reduced from 271550 yuan to 249900 yuan, while the price of the long-range rear wheel drive version of the Model 3 made in China was reduced from 339050 yuan to 309900 yuan. According to Tesla's goal, the localization rate of Chinese-made Model 3 parts is expected to reach 100% by the end of 2020, while the current rate is only 30%, which means that there is still room for further price adjustment of Chinese-made Model 3.

Tesla's price reduction has not only hurt car owners to a certain extent, but also put greater pressure on the survival of the new forces of car-building in China. According to the latest data, Xilai, ideal and Xiaopeng delivered 4708, 3504 and 3478 vehicles in September, and 12206, 18160 and 14077 in the first nine months of 2020, respectively. Tesla's monthly sales are basically equivalent to the annual sales level of domestic car brands, coupled with further price cuts, the living environment of domestic car brands is not optimistic.
