According to data released by South Korean market research company SNE Research, from January to August 2020, LG chemical battery installed ranked first in the world, accounting for 25% of the global electric vehicle battery market. Chinese battery maker Ningde Times ranked second with a 24% market share, Panasonic ranked third with a 19% share, and Samsung SDI and Bidi ranked fourth and fifth.

At present, the market share of the top three companies is still more than 68%, and the gap between the three is small, and they may show a state of repeated "overtaking" in the future. Although LG chemistry surpasses the Ningde era by only 1%, it also reflects that the realization of LG chemistry has surpassed the Ningde era, which depends on the speed of China.

Data show that in the first seven months of 2020, the global electric vehicle battery market reached 53.3GWh, down 16.8% from the same period last year, mainly due to the shutdown of a number of automakers affected by the epidemic this year, resulting in a reduction in the global market. However, at a time when sales of most electric car battery makers have fallen this year, South Korea's big three power battery makers have more than doubled against the trend.

Some analysts pointed out that since 2020, the European market has accelerated the transformation of electrification, increasing subsidies for new energy and accelerating the intensive listing of a number of models. Relevant data show that from January to August 2020, the sales of new energy vehicles in Europe reached 612000, a year-on-year increase, while the cumulative sales of new energy vehicles in China in the same period was 596000, which has obviously lagged behind Europe. It is also the first time that European electric vehicle sales have overtaken China as the world's largest electric vehicle market.

In addition, the increase in the data of LG Chemistry is also due to the great development of its European gigafactory project and Tesla's cooperation in China. Relevant analysis, because European and American car companies seem to be more inclined to Japan and South Korea battery suppliers, GM, Renault, Daimler, Volkswagen and other companies have chosen LG Chemistry.

While the Ningde era retreated from the first in the world to the third in the world, apart from having a great relationship with the epidemic this year, it was also caused by the malaise of the new energy market at work this year. In February, when the domestic epidemic broke out on a large scale, automobile manufacturers announced the suspension of production one after another, resulting in a substantial decline in the installed capacity of the local market. Data show that the installed capacity of the Ningde era reached 13.63GWh from January to August, accounting for nearly 50% of the domestic market.

However, from the perspective of long-term development, there is still a great chance to return to the top of the list in the Ningde era in 2020. Since entering the second half of the year, the domestic new energy situation has gradually improved. The sustained recovery of the new energy vehicle market provides benefits for the next development of the Ningde era.

In addition, Ningde era has also become Tesla's only battery supplier in China, which is undoubtedly a good opportunity for Ningde era to catch up with its competitors. Therefore, for the gap of less than 1% between LG chemistry and Ningde era, with the continuous warming of the domestic new energy market, the development potential of Ningde era can not be underestimated.
