FAW: red flag brand sales rose 85%, Pentium sales halved compared with the same period last year

On October 10, FAW Group released the latest production and sales data in September. Data show that FAW Group produced 375519 vehicles in September 2020, an increase of 38.9 percent over the same period last year, and sales of 388896 vehicles, an increase of 18.2 percent over the same period last year.

For independent passenger car brands, Red Flag sold 21518 vehicles in September, up 85.9% from a year earlier, while Pentium sold 5624 vehicles, down 50.88% from a year earlier.

At present, Red Flag brand has six models on sale, including H5, H7, H9 sedan products, and HS5, HS7, E-HS3 three SUV products, but mainly rely on HS5 and H5 models to achieve sales growth.

Red Flag brand is the sales responsibility of FAW Group's own brand, but the current sales scale of Red Flag is also very limited, which is not enough to affect the overall sales market of the group. For Red Flag brand, if the follow-up development wants to continue strong growth, it also needs to make comprehensive efforts from many aspects, such as brand word-of-mouth, product quality, market competitiveness and so on.

FAW Group has three joint venture brands, namely FAW-Volkswagen, FAW Toyota and FAW Mazda. Among them, FAW-Volkswagen, as the group's "pillar" brand, sold 224411 vehicles in September, up 3.9% from a year earlier.

In contrast to FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC-Volkswagen sales have been in a continuous decline. The sales performance of SAIC-Volkswagen is affected by the general trend of the market, the poor performance of Passat collision affecting the brand reputation and corporate reputation, as well as the marginalization of Skoda brand, marketing promotion and product strategy. SAIC-Volkswagen has not released the latest sales figures, but judging from a variety of factors, SAIC-Volkswagen has little chance of overtaking FAW-Volkswagen in September.

FAW Toyota, another important brand of FAW, sold 84834 vehicles in September, up 62.6 per cent from a year earlier.

FAW Toyota launched new models or replacement products, including Corolla, RAV4 Rongfang, Asian Dragon and other models with good market performance. Of this total, Corolla sales rose 41.3 per cent to 37400 vehicles.

FAW Mazda became the only joint venture brand to show a decline, with sales of 7057 vehicles in September, down 12.18% from a year earlier. At present, FAW Mazda has only two models on sale, the CX-4 and the Atez, which have seen a decline in sales under the influence of Strange doors, with the CX-4 falling from 4813 in July to 3952 in September.

As one of the six major automobile groups in China, FAW Group has benefited from the rapid growth of sales of Xinhongqi, FAW-Volkswagen and FAW Toyota brands, while the current development of the new Pentium brand and FAW Mazda is not optimistic, especially the Mazda brand. it has become a joint venture brand of FAW Group because of its slightly fewer models for sale, lack of product power and iterative lag in product renewal.
