Judging from the September sales of Japanese car companies in China, Toyota's monthly sales hit an all-time high, Honda's sales in China rose for three consecutive months compared with the same period last year, while Nissan and Mazda's sales growth was noticeably sluggish.

For joint ventures, sales of Dongfeng Nissan, a Nissan-branded model that includes imported models, rose 8.7 per cent to 112029 vehicles in September. In terms of specific models, sales of the Xuanyi family increased by 51.4 per cent to 57438, while those of the seventh generation Teana increased by 14.3 per cent to 11828, while SUV Qijun and Xiaoke sold 15168 and 15553 respectively in September.

Honda's two joint ventures, Dongfeng Honda and Guangzhou Auto Honda, both achieved double-digit growth, with Dongfeng Honda sales up 20.2 per cent to 87203 vehicles and Guangzhou Automobile Honda up 24.6 per cent to 81669 vehicles, both hitting record monthly sales highs.

At present, Honda's best-selling models in China are Accord, colorful Zhi, Haoying, Ling Pai and Civic, CR-V, XR-V and other 7 models. It is understood that in September this year, Accord, Civic and CR-V sales all exceeded 20, 000 vehicles. In the second half of the year, the launch of the hatchback Civic and the new Fido further promoted Honda's sales growth. According to the latest news from Dongfeng Honda, the new model LIFE will be unveiled at the Wuhan Auto Show on October 15. the new car can be seen as a sister model of the new flying, powered with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and is expected to be officially launched in the fourth quarter.

Mazda's sales in China also grew, but there was a huge contrast between the sales performance of its two joint ventures. Specifically, sales of Changan Mazda rose 28.93% to 14311 vehicles in September, while FAW Mazda fell 30.53% to 6611 vehicles. FAW Mazda's sales performance in China was dragged down sharply by a decline of more than 30%.

Mazda's Chinese website only reported sales of the top three models, with Oncella, CX-4 and CX-5 selling 8645, 3952 and 3269 respectively in September. It is worth mentioning that the latest CX-30 launched at the end of May was regarded as the latest popular style of Mazda, but instead, the model never appeared in the top three sales list of Mazda.

The sharp decline of FAW Mazda has seriously lowered the overall performance of Mazda. The reason is that it has a lot to do with the "abnormal sound door" which has been complaining continuously in recent months. The complaint problems such as abnormal noise of car body, skylight, center console and doors and windows continue to affect sales volume. Previously, Attez has been on the sales list, since the "strange sound door" complaints, Attez has not been on the list, CX-4 sales are also declining.

In terms of Japanese brands, Toyota's sales performance in China is better than that of other brands, both monthly sales and cumulative sales are higher than other Japanese brands. FAW Toyota's sales rose 62.6 per cent to 84834 vehicles in September, while Guangzhou Auto Toyota's sales rose 24.62 per cent to 81000 vehicles, according to data released by a Toyota joint venture.

Toyota launched new models or replacement products with good market performance, including Carola, Leiling, RAV4 Rongfang, Asian Dragon, Camry and so on. In the future new product planning, Toyota brand new Hanlanda, Sienna, Harrier will form a "two-car strategy" domestic, further enrich the lineup of domestic models. According to media reports, the new generation of Toyota Sienna (Senna) will be introduced by Guangzhou Auto Toyota and FAW Toyota respectively in 2021.

Under the influence of various favorable policies, Japanese brands continue to increase their market share in the domestic market, even close to the objective status of German brands, which reflects consumers' recognition of Japanese brands.
