In less than two weeks, Tesla reduced the price again! The starting price of Tesla Model S long-lasting version and high-performance version is 733900 yuan and 833900 yuan respectively, down 23000 yuan from the previous version, according to the official website of Tesla (China) on October 13.

According to Tesla (China) official website, Tesla Model S has a long-lasting version, Performance high-performance version and Plaid version of three models, the price adjustment is only for the first two models. It is understood that Model S has adjusted its prices twice this year, reducing the price by $8000 in July and $29000 in May. At present, it is not clear what is the specific reason for Tesla Model S price reduction?

It is worth mentioning that it is less than two weeks since Tesla's last price adjustment. Tesla China announced that the price of the domestic standard mileage version of Model 3 has been reduced from 291800 yuan before subsidy to 269700 yuan (after subsidy is 249900 yuan). According to reports, Tesla is preparing to start selling cobalt-free battery versions of Model 3 electric vehicles, which are produced by Tesla's Shanghai factory and will be equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The current Model 3 electric cars made at the Shanghai plant in China use nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) batteries, and the news may have contributed to the price cut.

It is understood that Tesla's latest listing of the standard continued flight version Model 3 is an imported version, which was priced at 363900 yuan at that time. The domestic Model 3 will be scheduled in October 2019, and the pre-price before subsidy is 355800 yuan.

At the beginning of this year, when the domestic Model 3 was delivered to users, Tesla announced that the price would be 323800 yuan before the subsidy and 299050 yuan after the subsidy. The price of Model 3 was reduced to less than 300000 yuan this time. In May this year, under the influence of the promotion policy of new energy vehicles, Tesla reduced the price of domestic Model 3 to 291800 yuan before subsidy and 271550 yuan after subsidy.

Tesla's price reduction behavior caused the dissatisfaction of car owners, and even went to Tesla service center to protect their rights. In the face of doubts and dissatisfaction from car owners, Tao Lin, vice president of foreign affairs of Tesla, also responded to the price reduction many times, saying that the original intention was to enable consumers to have more cost-effective products, rather than maximize their own profits.

Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the Federation of passengers, said that the reduction of Tesla's entry price to 250000 is expected. Tesla hopes to quickly reduce the price difference, realize the replacement of electric vehicles with traditional fuel vehicles, and maximize the incremental effect. According to a comprehensive judgment, Tesla may continue to reduce prices in the future, because its core is to replace fuel vehicles with high performance-to-price ratio, but at present, it is unlikely to reduce prices in the short term. Because its current product is the lowest-cost lithium iron phosphate battery, from the current domestic supply, there is no better and lower-cost alternative than lithium iron phosphate in Ningde era.

As far as the price reduction of Tesla Model S is concerned, although the price reduction has reached 23000 yuan, it has little impact on the country. At present, Tesla's domestic sales are mainly domestic Model 3, and the domestic sales of other models, especially the Model S with a price of more than 700000 yuan, are not high.
