AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)10/14 Report--

As new energy vehicles have gradually become the main means of transportation, many automobile manufacturers supply them to rental companies in bulk, including not only traditional car companies but also some new power car companies. A few days ago, Weima, one of the leading new power car companies, suffered spontaneous combustion in some of the newly delivered new energy models, which was officially confirmed to be a battery problem.

According to media reports, a Weima EX5 electric car in Fujian Province caught fire on the side of the road in the early morning of October 5. At the time of the accident, the vehicle was parked and no charging operation was performed.

According to the picture taken at the scene, the ignition point of the vehicle is located at the rear of the body, and the flame is more ferocious and ejected. The whole car was seriously damaged due to a large area of fire. After the fire department arrived, the body of the car had been completely burnt out, and after the fire was extinguished, the vehicle was burned into an iron shell and the whole vehicle was scrapped. However, there were no reports of casualties.

Coincidentally, according to Weibo verified blogger "Dingdingwu", another Weima electric car caught fire while recharging in the early morning of Oct. 13, the same as before, the vehicle was surrounded by fire within minutes and had been completely destroyed by the time the fire department arrived. The cause of spontaneous combustion is unknown, but fortunately the accident did not cause casualties or property damage to other vehicles.

It is understood that the vehicle involved was one of the 131 new energy electric taxis put into the city by Shaowu City, Fujian Province, on October 1, including 80 Weima, and the rest included Roewe and BYD.

In response to two emergencies, on October 13, the "Weima Taxi spontaneous Combustion investigation and Coordination working Group" in Shaowu City, Fujian Province, requested Weima Automobile to send technicians and taxi enterprises to attend the emergency meeting. And issued two consecutive spontaneous combustion reports of Weima electric taxis, for the sake of safety, temporarily suspended the operation of Weima electric taxis and uniformly parked the cars in a safe area.

Subsequently, Weima also said in response to two cases of spontaneous combustion of Weima electric taxis that after a preliminary investigation into the battery problem, it proposed a plan to replace higher-quality batteries in the Ningde era, and was willing to make compensation.

It is reported that the Weima EX5 models currently on sale in the market have three kinds of mileage of 400km, 475km and 520km, using ternary lithium battery power pack, with the highest capacity of 69kWh, and the price is 14.68-198800 yuan after subsidy.

With the gradual popularization of new energy, the spontaneous combustion of new energy vehicles also occurs frequently, which makes people think that the spontaneous combustion of new energy vehicles is a normal phenomenon, but its safety has always been an issue of concern both inside and outside the industry. therefore, the safety problem has also become one of the reasons restricting the growth of new energy vehicles. However, the safer lithium iron phosphate batteries have returned to the market, and car companies are no longer entirely inclined to ternary lithium batteries.
