For some vehicles within the scope of this recall, there may be a hidden danger of fracture of the suspension components when they are subjected to a large external impact, and the improved suspension connecting rod will be replaced to eliminate the hidden danger of safety.

It is worth noting that this recall is the largest recall ever conducted by Tesla in China. At the same time, the recall was carried out under the circumstances that the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration launched a defect investigation, and Tesla decided to take recall measures under the influence of the investigation.

According to foreign media sources, Tesla believes that the recall in China was originally caused by driver problems. In a letter from lawyer Tesla to NHTSA, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company blamed Chinese drivers for the problem, saying there were no safety problems and said it had no plans to recall outside China.

"driver usage and expectations of breakability are extremely serious in the Chinese market," the letter wrote. If the driver enters an abusive load (for example, kerb impact, severe pothole impact, etc.), the part may be damaged, resulting in immediate or delayed failure due to the combined effect of initial driver abuse of the vehicle and subsequent load input. "

Tesla told NHTSA that he disagreed with Chinese regulators, but Tesla said the company was conducting a voluntary recall anyway to avoid "bearing a heavy burden in administrative procedures".

NHTSA said, "I learned that Tesla was recalled in China because of suspension problems." At present, the agency has not received any major complaints about these issues in the United States, and it is keeping in touch with Tesla, closely monitoring the development of the situation, and will not hesitate to take action to protect the public from unreasonable security risks.

At present, Tesla's Chinese side has not responded to this remark.

Tesla recalled a total of 29193 imported Model S and Model X vehicles from September 17, 2013 to August 16, 2017, according to documents from the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. When these vehicles are subjected to a large external impact, the connecting rod on the rear suspension may be deformed, and the component will be further weakened when the vehicle continues to be used. In extreme cases, it may break, affect the handling of the vehicle, and increase the risk of accidents. There are security risks. Tesla will replace the rear connecting rod of the improved left and right front suspension free of charge.

Tesla also recalled some imported Model S vehicles from September 17, 2013 to January 15, 2018, totaling 19249 vehicles. When the vehicle is subjected to a large external impact, the connecting rod on the rear suspension may be deformed, and the component will be further weakened when the vehicle continues to be used. In extreme cases, it may break, affect the handling of the vehicle, and increase the risk of accidents. There are security risks. Tesla will replace the connecting rod on the improved left and right rear suspension free of charge.

In the above recall, 18608 vehicles need to be recalled to replace the rear connecting rod of the front suspension and the connecting rod on the rear suspension at the same time, 10585 vehicles need to be recalled to replace the rear connecting rod of the front suspension, and 641 vehicles need to be recalled to replace the connecting rod on the rear suspension.

Incomplete statistics show that as of August this year, Tesla sold more than 60, 000 Model S and Model X vehicles in China, which means that the total number of recalls accounted for nearly half of sales in China.
