AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)10/29 Report--

For Toyota brand, there is a saying that "Toyota can drive well, one car can be passed on for three generations". After all, Toyota, as the world's largest car brand, has no doubt in terms of vehicle quality control. However, in the recent fuel pump problems of vehicles, Toyota has conducted a number of recalls, and recently carried out a third recall of faulty vehicles.

Affected by fuel pumps produced by Denso companies, a number of Japanese brands have previously carried out large-scale recalls of defective models, and Toyota has also been affected because the fuel pump defects of the parts giant are too large. On Oct. 28, Toyota announced a recall of another 2.66 million defective vehicles, including Japan, the United States, Europe and other parts of the world, because of problems with fuel pumps made by Denso delivered in March 2020.

Toyota's recall includes 42 models, including its NOAH and AVALON. By region, there are as many as 1.52 million in North America and about 400000 in China. In Japan, Toyota has declared a recall of 210000 vehicles from brands such as Noah and Elfa to the Ministry of Land and Transport.

Specifically, the recalled models include 2013 to 2015 Lexus LS 460s and GS 350, 2017 to 2019 Toyota Hanlanda, 2017 to 2020 Toyota Sienna and Lexus RX 350, 2018 to 2020 Toyota Asian Dragons, Camry, Corolla, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra, and 2019 to 2020 Toyota Runner models. It is speculated that the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration will issue an announcement in the later stage.

Information shows that the reason for this recall is the same as before, the fuel pump of the vehicle may suddenly fail, which may cause the vehicle instrument alarm and, in serious cases, engine flameout. At present, Toyota will replace the new fuel pump free of charge to the recalled vehicles.

It is reported that this is Toyota's third recall due to the same problem this year, and the cumulative number of vehicles involved in the recall will increase to 3.3 million. The recall was first issued in January, covering vehicles from 2018 to 2019; the second recall was in March and extended to 2013. Toyota will notify the owners of the problem vehicles before the end of December for this recall.

With regard to the vehicle recall, Toyota also said that it did not recall all vehicles at once because it was monitoring and investigating the data to determine whether the first batch of vehicles outside the scope of the recall had the same problem.

The fuel pump produced by Denso has affected as much as the global car market has been plagued by Takata airbags. So far, the vehicles involved are not only Toyota. A total of more than 5 million vehicles have been recalled by Japanese car companies, such as Honda, Subaru and Mazda.

Data show that the "Denso Company" full name Denso Co., Ltd. (DENSO CORPORATION), founded on December 16, 1949, is the world's top supplier of automotive system parts. As of March 31, 2005, Denso has 171 subsidiaries in 31 countries and regions around the world. The company's products include automotive air conditioning and heating systems, electronic automation and electronic control products, fuel management systems, radiators, spark plugs, combination instruments, filters, industrial robots, telecommunications products and information processing equipment.
