In some vehicles within the scope of this recall, there are internal logic problems in the power battery energy control module (BECM) software, which may cause the electronic control unit to be reset intermittently. When this happens, the high-pressure system will be disconnected, which may lead to the loss of power while the vehicle is running, and there is a hidden danger to safety. Polar Star cars will upgrade the power battery energy control module software for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

Star Motor issued an official statement on October 29th, announcing another recall of the Polestar 2 model, this time involving a "voluntary safety recall" and "a maintenance service activity".

In the case of the recall, officials announced that faulty inverters on most delivered customer vehicles would be replaced. The inverter converts the energy stored in the battery into the power required by the motor. The total number of affected vehicles currently delivered to customers is 4586.

A maintenance service activity involves high-pressure coolant heaters (HVCH). HVCH is responsible for engine room and high voltage battery heating. Officials say faulty parts installed on early cars need to be replaced. The total number of affected vehicles currently delivered to customers is 3150.

Star Motors said that car owners only need to go to the 4S store once to solve the hardware problem. All recalls will be notified to the car owners from November 2, and will inform them of the problems, solutions and next steps.

All undelivered vehicles will be updated before handover, while vehicles already in the 4S store workshop will also be updated according to the activity, Star added. New vehicles may have handover delays and need to be updated before handover.
