AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/02 Report--
According to the Nikkei Chinese website, all Nissan models listed in China in the future will be electrified. Nissan will officially launch e-POWER models in China in 2021 and 5-6 e-POWER models in about three years. Nissan plans to electrify nearly half of its product lines in 2023. Nissan will launch nine new electric models in China by 2025, and all engine vehicles other than pure electric vehicles (EV) will be converted to hybrid vehicles (HV).
Nissan plans to impose a total ban on the sale of pure fuel vehicles in 2025, against the backdrop of accelerating the popularity of electric cars in the domestic market. On October 27th, the "Roadmap of Energy Saving and New Energy vehicle Technology 2.0" guided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology was released in Shanghai. The route is clear that new energy vehicles will gradually become mainstream products by 2035, and the automobile industry will achieve electric transformation. The specific phased development goals are: by 2025, 2030 and 2035, the proportion of new energy vehicle sales will reach 20%, 40% and 50%, respectively. Hybrid cars account for 50%, 75% and 100% of traditional energy passenger cars, respectively.
Ariya is regarded as a landmark product of Nissan's electrification transformation, and plays an important role in Nissan's electrification. The Ariya is Nissan's first pure electric crossover SUV model and the first model with the new "NISSAN" LOGO. In the Chinese market, Ariya made its Chinese debut at the Beijing Auto Show on Sept. 26, the second pure electric model launched by Nissan in the Chinese market after Xuanyi Pure Electric. According to Nissan's plan, Ariya will be sold in the Chinese market in 2021
Meanwhile, Nissan plans to expand its capacity in the Chinese market. According to reports, Nissan and its joint venture partner Dongfeng Motor set up production lines at factories in Wuhan, Hubei Province and Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, expanding its production base in China from the current four to six. Nissan's annual production capacity in China will also increase from 1.4 million to 1.8 million vehicles, exceeding the production capacity of Toyota and Honda in China.
At present, Nissan's performance in the global market is worrying. After a huge loss of 671.2 billion yen (44.7 billion yuan) in fiscal year 2019, Nissan lost another 285.5 billion yen (18.325 billion yuan) in the first quarter of 2020, and cumulative global sales fell 31.2 percent in the first half from a year earlier to 1.8074 million vehicles.
Unlike the decline in Nissan's global performance, Nissan's sales in China have grown for six months in a row. Nissan's sales in China rose 5.1 per cent to 141600 vehicles in September, while cumulative sales fell 9.7 per cent to 985500 vehicles from January to September, ranking first in the single market, according to the data.
Nissan has said that the Chinese market, the main sales market, has recovered rapidly after the COVID-19 epidemic spread, and Nissan hopes to seize the strong demand in the Chinese market to improve its performance.
