AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/04 Report--
After the traditional peak season of "Golden Nine and Silver Ten" and the demand stimulation brought by the double Mid-Autumn Festival, a number of best-selling car companies achieved sales growth again in October. According to data from two Japanese car companies that were the first to report sales in China, both achieved growth of more than 20%, and even Honda surpassed Toyota in monthly sales for the first time this year.
Since 2020, Honda has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, and Honda's sales have been seriously restricted by Dongfeng Honda. It has maintained a downward trend in the first half of this year, thus becoming the brand with the worst decline in cumulative sales at work this year. Thanks to the Honda brand's gradual rebound in the second half of the year as the market recovers, sales have grown steadily, surpassing the Toyota brand for the first time this year.
According to the October sales data released by the Honda brand, terminal sales reached 180600 in a single month, an increase of 22.3% over the same period last year, setting a record high for four consecutive months. among the two joint ventures, Guangzhou Auto Honda sold 85500 vehicles, up 25.8% from the same period last year, and Dongfeng Honda sold 95100 vehicles, up 19.3% from the same period last year.
In terms of specific models, Guangzhou Automotive Honda Accord, colorful Zhi, Haoying, Lingpai, Feido, Dongfeng Honda CR-V, Civic and XR-V have achieved monthly sales of more than 10,000 vehicles, of which Accord, CR-V and Civic have sold more than 20, 000 vehicles a month.
It is worth noting that Guangzhou Auto Honda benefited from the launch of the fourth generation of Fido in August and achieved more than 10,000 sales in October after two months of climbing, which not only helped Guangzhou Auto Honda achieve a growth rate higher than Dongfeng Honda, but also helped Honda brand surpass Toyota brand.
According to data from previous months, the Honda brand in China has achieved month-on-month growth, especially after the launch of Feido in September this year, an increase of 13.66% over the previous month. Even though the month-on-month growth was slightly smaller in October, it also witnessed the growth of Feido and other models. Help the brand to surpass Toyota.
With the continuous rapid growth of sales in recent months, the gap between Honda's cumulative sales this year and the same period last year has gradually narrowed, and this year is expected to achieve a positive year-on-year growth rate. As of October, Honda's cumulative terminal sales in China this year were 1.2468 million, down 1.9 per cent from a year earlier, of which Guangzhou Auto Honda sold 622500 vehicles, down 1 per cent from a year earlier, and Dongfeng Honda sold 624300 vehicles, down 2.8 per cent from a year earlier.
And because of Toyota's growing lead in China, its sales are rising faster than other Japanese brands. Toyota's full-year sales have returned to positive growth, thanks to the continued launch of new products and the growth of the high-end brand Lexus. A total of 175600 vehicles were sold in china in October, even though they grew by 33.3% year-on-year, but sales lagged slightly behind Honda.
There is no doubt that Toyota's sales jumped in 2020, thanks to this round of dual-car launch and the brand's biggest technological update in nearly 15 years, helping to fully upgrade its models. At the same time, the frequent rise of its luxury brand Lexus has helped the brand to set a new record in China. Lexus sales reached 20100 in September, up 13.3% from a year earlier.
Although Mazda and Nissan, both Japanese brands, do not report sales in China, they are far away from Nissan, which tops the list of Japanese brands, compared with the two major brands that now form a duo pattern between Honda and Toyota. Earlier, Nissan announced that it would withdraw from China's fuel market by 2025 and transform into new energy models, which also means that Nissan, which currently wants to overtake Honda and Toyota brands, seems a little powerless. As for the Japanese car companies whose Mazda brand has always been a niche brand, their sales in China are also tepid.
Throughout the car market in October this year, Japanese brands, as the mainstream car companies in China, have basically maintained the growth trend, which also reflects that the "Matthew effect" of brand differentiation has been further expanded after the continuous cold winter and epidemic situation in the car market. Honda's overtaking of Toyota for the first time this year also means that the Honda brand has finally achieved a strong recovery and will continue to lead the domestic joint venture market in Toyota.
