A few days ago, Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., and Guangzhou Automobile Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the Administration of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products, the recall plan was filed with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration.

Recall models:

(1) Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. decided to recall a total of 116919 of the following vehicles from March 3, 2021.

46311 Lexus RX vehicles were partially imported from July 3, 2017 to September 9, 2019; 46304 Lexus ES vehicles were partially imported from June 25, 2018 to February 20, 2019; 10555 Lexus NX vehicles were partially imported from May 11, 2018 to April 20, 2019; and 2912 Lexus IS vehicles were partially imported from July 5, 2017 to May 17, 2019. 2860 imported Lexus LX vehicles manufactured from July 20 to April 5, 2018, 2235 Lexus LS vehicles manufactured from November 5, 2018 to May 27, 2019, 1045 Lexus GS vehicles manufactured from July 6, 2017 to May 29, 2019, and Lexus RC vehicles partially imported from July 5, 2017 to May 17, 2019. 82 Lexus LC vehicles were partially imported from November 23, 2018 to June 14, 2019; 9 Lexus UX vehicles were partially imported from August 1, 2018 to February 19, 2019; 4424 Toyota Elfa vehicles were partially imported from July 19, 2017 to April 1, 2019; and 5 Toyota Hai Aix vehicles were partially imported from June 26, 2018 to August 1, 2018.

(2) Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. decided to recall a total of 30319 of the following vehicles from January 6, 2021.

13939 Asian Dragon cars manufactured from March 5, 2019 to May 22, 2019, and 16380 Crown cars manufactured from August 2, 2017 to September 7, 2019 will be recalled from January 6, 2021.

(3) Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. decided to recall a total of 22284 of the following vehicles from December 9, 2020.

940 partial Costa cars manufactured from May 9, 2019 to September 6, 2019 will be recalled from December 9, 2020, and 21344 partial Prado vehicles manufactured from August 23, 2017 to July 24, 2019 will be recalled from February 26, 2021.

(4) Guangzhou Auto Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. decided to recall a total of 232351 of the following vehicles from January 6, 2021.

187495 partial Camry cars were produced from April 24, 2018 to May 24, 2019, and 44856 partial Halanda cars were produced from December 10, 2018 to July 11, 2019.

Reasons for recall:

In some vehicles within the scope of this recall, due to the imperfect resin forming conditions of the suppliers in the manufacturing process of the low-pressure fuel pump impeller, the resin density of the impeller is insufficient. The impeller may be inflated and deformed due to the influence of fuel, which interferes with the shell of the low-pressure fuel pump, resulting in the poor operation of the low-pressure fuel pump. In extreme cases, the vehicle may not start normally or the engine will flameout while driving. There is a safety risk.

Solution:

Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Automobile Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. will replace the improved low-pressure fuel pump for vehicles within the recall range free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

This recall belongs to Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Auto Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., which was issued on April 17, 2020. The reason for the expansion of the recall is that through further in-depth investigation, it is confirmed that more vehicles may be carrying unqualified low-pressure fuel pumps, resulting in safety risks such as vehicles not starting normally.
