In November, the Mercedes-Benz recall document appeared on the AQSIQ website. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with relevant requirements, recalling some imported G-class, S-class and AMG GT cars, according to the document.

The first major oil spill problem--

Due to the production deviation of the parts supplier, the tightness of the connection surface between the engine high-pressure fuel pipe and the high-pressure oil pump may not meet the requirements, resulting in slight oil leakage in the connection area.

Because of the above safety risks, Mercedes-Benz announced that it will recall a total of 563 imported G-Class, S-Class and AMG GT vehicles equipped with eight-cylinder gasoline engines from January 7, 2019 to July 17, 2019.

At the same time, the authorities will check the connection between the high-pressure fuel pipe and the high-pressure oil pump for vehicles within the recall area free of charge by authorizing dealers, and replace the high-pressure fuel pipe and high-pressure oil pump if there is a problem, so as to eliminate safety risks.

The second biggest oil spill problem--

Mercedes-Benz found that due to the supplier's production deviation, the fuel filling hose of the fuel tank may be damaged, and there may be a small amount of fuel leakage during the fuel filling process. unable to meet the relevant regulatory requirements on the tightness of the fuel system and fuel evaporation limits.

Mercedes-Benz has decided to recall a total of 845 imported G-class vehicles from May 26, 2018 to November 14, 2019.

At the same time, the authorities will check whether the fuel filling hose is leaking for vehicles within the recall area free of charge by authorizing dealers, and replace the fuel filling hose if there is a leak, so as to eliminate safety risks.

The third biggest oil spill problem--

On June 29th, Mercedes-Benz announced a recall of 669000 vehicles in China, which is also at risk of fuel leakage. the recall will begin on December 18 this year.

Mercedes-Benz said that the joint of the high-pressure fuel pump and low-pressure fuel pipe of the vehicle engine will be reduced after being affected by long-term heat load, and oil leakage may occur when the vehicle starts at low temperature, which does not meet the relevant provisions of the safety protection of the fuel system in GB 7258-2017, which is not in line with the "Technical conditions for safe Operation of Motor vehicles". Officials will replace high-pressure fuel pump fuel pipes free of charge by authorizing dealers to replace vehicles within the recall range.

It is worth noting that the recall was carried out in the context of the defect investigation initiated by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration.

In recent years, Mercedes-Benz has frequent quality problems in the Chinese market. In 2019 alone, Mercedes-Benz launched a total of 24 recalls, the number of recalls as high as 1.4582 million vehicles, equivalent to twice the cumulative sales of Mercedes-Benz in 2019. In 2020, Mercedes-Benz has announced as many as 17 recalls, the most of all brands.

There is a view that for product recalls, consumers will look at the cause and seriousness of the problem, such as repeated recalls like Mercedes-Benz, hidden dangers of car quality defects one after another, and even some low-level mistakes. to a certain extent, it will affect the brand reputation and consumers' evaluation of the brand, and then affect sales. However, data show that Mercedes-Benz continued to lead the first camp of the domestic luxury car market with a sales score of 569700 new cars from January to September this year.
