Guangzhou Auto Toyota announced on November 7 that it will launch a new car based on the TNGA architecture and name it "Ling Shang", which will be officially unveiled at the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show.

At present, there is not much information about Ling Shang, and there is no information about exterior interior design at all. However, the official definition of "Ling Shang" as "TNGA+1 and 2750m" is likely to be an extended version of GAC Toyota Leiling, with a wheelbase of 2750mm and positioned as an A + class sedan, higher than GAC Toyota Leiling and lower than the Camry, which locates medium-sized cars.

On the power side, the new car will be equipped with the same 2.0L naturally aspirated engine as the Camry. According to the Camry's power performance, the engine has the maximum power of the 131kw and peak torque of 210N ·m, but as a new TNGA car, the power output will be adjusted. The transmission may continue to match the CVT gearbox.

It is worth mentioning that FAW Toyota has also prepared a brand new car with the same 2750mm wheelbase and 2.0L naturally aspirated engine. Therefore, FAW Toyota's new car is likely to be a sister model of Ling Shang, and the two may have some differences in appearance and interior decoration, but the price / power and configuration will be basically the same, in line with Toyota's dual-car product strategy.

Since 2018, GAC Toyota has successively introduced Camry, Leiling, Weilanda and other TNGA architecture models, these models have become the main sales force of GAC Toyota. Now, with the arrival of Ling Shang, GAC Toyota will fill the gap in A+ sedan products, while consumers also have more choices.

Toyota released sales figures for China, which rose 33.3% to 175600 vehicles in October from a year earlier, of which GAC Toyota's sales rose 20.00% to 72000 vehicles. According to data disclosed by GAC Toyota, Leiling and Camry sold 22456 and 17414 cars respectively in October, so the new car based on TNGA architecture may become a major sales model under Guangfeng.

In addition to these two new cars, Toyota is also promoting a new generation of Hanlanda, a new generation of Sienna (Senna) and a new generation of Harrier (Haiya) in China. In the future, Guangzhou Auto Toyota and FAW Toyota will also have a more complete product line, covering mainstream cars, SUV and MPV products.
