Beijing Mercedes-Benz's new E-Class was officially launched in September this year, with a total of 12 models with a price range of 43.08-642800 yuan, offering three power options: 1.5T+48V, 2.0T and 2.0T+48V. Recently, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class has appeared in the latest batch declaration list of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, this time it is the Mercedes-Benz E260L model, the appearance of the new car remains the same as the current model on sale, the biggest change is in the power system, which replaced the 1.5T+48V light mixing system with a 2.0T engine.

The new Mercedes-Benz E260L is consistent with the current model in appearance, adding many new S-level design languages, family-style "inverted triangle" LED daily lights, chrome-plated banner intake grille, etc., to make the car look more athletic. However, depending on the configuration of the model, the new car offers a choice of different styles of intake grille, side skirts and a variety of rims, with some models with front cameras. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5078/1860/1484mm and the wheelbase is 3079mm.

The biggest change to the new car is that the Mercedes-Benz E260L will no longer be equipped with 1.5T+48V power system, but will use a 2.0T turbocharged engine produced by Beijing Mercedes-Benz 264920, with a maximum power of 145kw, matched by a 9AT gearbox.

The main competitors of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class are the BMW 5-Series and Audi A6L, both of which use 2.0T engines for entry-level configuration. In this case, the E-Class of Mercedes-Benz is equipped with 1.5T+48V powertrain on the entry-level model, and the power performance is obviously insufficient, which also causes some controversial voices on the Internet.

Audi A6L sales rose 56.5 per cent to 129464 in the first three quarters of this year, Mercedes-Benz E-Class sales edged up 0.7 per cent to 118490 and BMW 5-Series sales rose 1.3 per cent to 117629. Although Mercedes-Benz E-Class still has a lead over BMW 5-Series, it is clear that consumers complain a lot about the appearance of Mercedes-Benz E-Class after the mid-term revamped models were launched in September. Mercedes-Benz E-Class sales fell in September, while Audi A6L and BMW 5-Series showed growth. It is not difficult to see that Mercedes-Benz E-Class gave up 1.5T for 2.0T in order to enhance its competitive advantage in the market.
