On November 8th, Baoneng Group officially held a ceremony for the completion of the Xi'an base and the first model going off the line, which means that the Xi'an base of Baoneng Automobile Group was officially completed, as well as the first car of the independently developed new energy xEV platform and Baoneng added program electric vehicle (REV) also went offline on the same day.

It is understood that the construction of Baoneng Automobile Group Xi'an base took more than two years, including stamping, welding, painting, final assembly and other four main workshops. It is the third vehicle manufacturing base of Baoneng Automobile Group after Jiangsu Changshu Guanzhi manufacturing base and Shenzhen Baoneng automobile manufacturing base (former Changan PSA manufacturing base). It is also the first vehicle manufacturing base built and put into production by Baoneng. And the first to go offline in Xi'an is the first car and Baoneng Zengji Electric (REV) model developed based on the xEV platform.

Public information shows that in terms of vehicle manufacturing, in addition to the three major vehicle manufacturing bases in Changshu, Shenzhen, and Xi'an mentioned above, Baoneng Automobile's production bases in Guangzhou, Guiyang, Kunming, Kunshan and other key areas will also be completed and put into production one after another.

In fact, Baoneng Automobile Group has already released this self-developed xEV platform at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show. The xEV platform is highly malleable and can support pure electric, plug-in hybrid, incremental electric and other power.

The Baoneng REV model, which was announced together, is officially out of the xEV platform independently developed by Baoneng Automobile Group, and the new car is based on Guanzhi 3 models. It is reported that REV represents this model with an add-on hybrid east-west system.

At present, there are not many models of add-on system in the market, and the more representative is the ideal ONE of the ideal car. As one of the current types of new energy vehicles, the advantage of the add-on system is that it can be characterized by higher energy conversion efficiency and lower energy consumption, and its fuel consumption is 30% less than that of fuel vehicles. 35%, without the mileage anxiety of pure electric vehicles, it is as convenient to use as fuel vehicles, and can enjoy pure electric vehicle subsidy policy at the same time.

As a new energy model launched by Baoneng Automobile, the design of Baoneng REV continues the design of the fuel version to the 3 hatchback version. In addition to the brand-new front face design style, it also uses a new design for the internal structure of the headlight group of the new car, with C-shaped elements on both sides of the front and rear bumper. In addition, the shape of the car is basically the same as that of the ordinary fuel version.

In addition to the new models that will be launched this time, Baoneng also makes product plans for future development. According to the plan, Qoros will continue to promote the development path of "both oil and electricity", maintain the pace of launching at least two new models each year, and achieve coverage from cars, SUV to MPV, from traditional fuel vehicles to new energy models, and from A0 to B-class models by 2025.

Baoneng Group established Baoneng Automobile in March 2017 and announced its entry into the car manufacturing industry. It was only when it acquired a 51 per cent stake in Qoros Motor, a subsidiary of Chery, for 6.63 billion yuan that it officially became the largest shareholder of Qoros to gain control.

Despite the improvement of Baoneng, which took over from Quan, Quan's sales increased from 15000 in 2017 to 63000 in 2018, an increase of 320% over the same period last year. However, most of the new cars are "self-produced and sold" through Baoneng's affiliated companies, and there are very few in the actual consumer market. Quan Chi's cumulative sales fell 64 per cent to 23000 in 2019, with public data showing that it sold 6543 vehicles from January to September, down 55 per cent from a year earlier, with an average monthly sales of only about 700s.

Therefore, the launch of a new independent new energy platform can be seen as a transformation of the automobile market by Baoneng Group. after all, with the current domestic shrinking market, the market competition has become more fierce. and let Qoros almost have no sense of existence in the current market. If we no longer seek market positioning through transformation, it is difficult to guarantee that Qoros will become a brand that is about to be eliminated under the "Matthew effect".
