The latest figures released by the Federation of passengers showed that retail sales in the passenger car market in October were 1.992 million units, up 8.8 percent from a year earlier. From January to October, retail sales in the national passenger car market totaled 14.92 million, down 10.2% from the same period last year, further narrowing the decline.

After several months of sustained growth, sales in the new energy vehicle market once again saw a substantial growth of more than 100% in October. Retail sales of new energy vehicles rose 116.1% to 133000 units in October from a year earlier, with plug-in hybrid retail sales up 38.2% and pure electric retail sales up 136.1%, according to the federation of passengers.

The new energy passenger car market showed diversified development in October, with sales of more than 10,000 vehicles including SAIC GM Wuling, BYD, SAIC passenger cars and Tesla China, with sales of 29711, 22395, 12785 and 12143 respectively.

Previously, Tesla's Model 3 model sold in China continued to top the new energy list, with sales rising since Wuling launched the Hongguang MINI, including 15000 in August and 20150 in September, far surpassing Tesla.

In addition, the sales of new car companies such as NIO, ideal, Weima, Xiaopeng, Hezhong and Zero run are all good, and some of them are the best in history. According to official figures, delivery of Xilai cars increased by 100.1% to 5055 in October, while Xiaopeng Weimar increased by 229.0% and 46.10% respectively, while ideal delivered 3692 new cars to users in October.

Of course, some car companies still need to improve their sales. BAIC New Energy has not yet released its October sales, but based on its performance so far this year, it is likely to continue to decline in October. BAIC's new energy sales plunged 77.57 per cent to 2245 vehicles in September, down 78.57 per cent to 21086 vehicles in the first three quarters.

Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the Federation, said that the new energy market will continue the strong recovery in October, and is expected to achieve cumulative sales growth from negative to positive year-on-year in November this year. He said that with the increase of 20,000 accounts in Beijing and the rush to buy new energy in Shanghai due to policy changes, coupled with the strong pursuit of new energy production and sales by enterprises, it is expected that the domestic new energy vehicle market will continue to grow high month-on-month in the last two months of the year.

In recent years, new energy vehicles have indeed developed rapidly under the leadership of national policy, and the growth of new energy vehicle sales also reflects consumers' gradual recognition of new energy vehicles, but the new energy vehicle market is not yet mature. First of all, in terms of product safety, under the influence of several electric vehicle fires, consumers are worried about the safety of electric vehicles, and technologies such as self-driving are also in a relatively primary stage. Second, the problem of battery life is also a major problem for electric vehicles. Although the mileage of most products on the market is more than 400km, the actual driving will be greatly reduced, especially in winter, there may be a loss of electricity at any time; the last one is the charging station, the popularity of the domestic charging station is still slightly low, and it is possible that the charging parking space is occupied by fuel vehicles.

Overall, the growth of new energy vehicle sales can indeed reflect the views of consumers, but product safety, battery life protection and charging and other issues still need to be improved.
