Although Tesla's latest model, Model Y, is now on sale in its home market in the United States, with the acceleration of domestic factories in Shanghai, Model Y has begun to be ordered in China, meaning the model will also be available domestically early next year. Recently, however, it has been reported that domestic Model Y will no longer use Ningde era batteries.

LG Chemical, South Korea's largest battery supplier, has signed a supply contract with Tesla China to supply NCM (nickel-cobalt-manganese) batteries for the domestic dual-motor long-range version and high-performance version of Model Y at the Shanghai factory, South Korean media Business Korea reported. This means that the lithium iron phosphate batteries provided by Ningde Times will no longer be available on domestic Model Y models and will be the exclusive battery supplier for domestic Model Y, which is expected to be mass-produced in China in early 2021.

Although a number of domestic Model 3 models are on sale in China, the batteries carried are not only Ningde Times, but also South Korean LG Chemistry. But the lithium iron phosphate battery provided by Ningde era is used on the entry-level model of domestic Model 3. The ternary lithium batteries provided by South Korea's LG Chemical are equipped with long-range, high-performance models.

According to a number of automotive media, the exposure of domestic Tesla Model Y road test spy photos, the new car has appeared near Tesla Shanghai super factory, although the whole car is heavily camouflaged, but you can still see the overall appearance.

The domestic Model Y is based on the Model 3 platform, so there is a slight change in appearance, and the Model Y body with a medium-sized SUV is more rounded than the Model 3. From the side of the car body, the domestic Tesla Model Y adopts the hidden door handle design, the side streamline of the car body is relatively smooth, and the road test wheels are also camouflaged, the details are unknown.

For the rear part of the car, the domestic Model Y adopts a design style similar to that of Model 3, the top of the trunk adopts a duck tail shape, and the middle position of the tail adopts an inner concave design.

However, the declaration information of domestic Model Y has also been exposed before. As the second domestic model of Tesla, the domestic Model Y uses a family-style design language, and the body design of the slip-back style is very similar to that of Model 3, and the three big characters "Tesla" on the rear are impressively listed.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of Model Y are 4750/1921/1624mm respectively, compared with the body size of Model 3, the difference between the two cars is still very obvious.

In terms of power, the domestic Model Y is a dual-motor four-wheel drive version, equipped with a front / rear drive motor of 3D3/3D5, with a maximum power of 137and 180kW, respectively. The power battery pack is a ternary lithium battery provided by LG Chemical in South Korea.

According to Tesla's Chinese official website, there are two versions of the domestic Model Y, with a long-lasting version priced at 488000 yuan, with a range (estimated by WLTP) of 505km and a 100km acceleration time of 5.1 seconds; and a high-performance version of Performance priced at 535000 yuan, with a mileage (WLTP estimated) of 480km, and a 100km acceleration time of 3.7s.

It can be said that the mass production delivery of Model Y is of great significance to Tesla. Tesla's delivery target is 500000 vehicles this year, and the Model 3 and Model Y are Tesla's main models, so it is possible to deliver them in advance. After all, with the sales of domestic Model 3 gradually considerable, accelerating the promotion of domestic Model Y will help Tesla achieve the sales target.
