AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/28 Report--
After experiencing the development difficulties of stagnant sales, Hyundai's joint venture Beijing Hyundai began to speed up the introduction of new cars, with the launch of the 10th generation Sonata and the seventh generation Elantra in 2020. Beijing Hyundai has planned at least three new models in 2021. According to current information, the new Mingtu, the new Tusheng L and a new MPV model will all be on the market in 2021.
Among them, the brand-new map and the new Tusheng L were unveiled at the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show, while this brand-new MPV model is more "mysterious".
With the gradual improvement of the domestic models of the joint venture brand, the MPV model has become their next key market area. Following the launch of SAIC-Volkswagen's first MPV Veran, two Toyota joint ventures also confirmed the launch of home-made MPV Sena, and now Hyundai will start production of the MPV in China.
From the real car pictures previously exposed online, Beijing Hyundai's new MPV model uses a lattice of chrome-plated grille, which is different from the front face design of other Hyundai models, while the huge front net occupies most of the front area, and the rest, including the lower encirclement, are relatively simple. The side is the most obvious feature of the car, the slender body is in line with the MPV product positioning, and the new car also uses the design of a side sliding door. However, due to the high ground clearance of the whole vehicle, which is obviously different from that of the traditional MPV, the proportion of the whole vehicle is a little strange.
In terms of interior decoration, the new car is equipped with the latest multi-function steering wheel, and the central control screen is in line with the trend of today's new car. At the same time, the new car also uses the key shift mode. In addition, the second row of seats has armrests and is expected to be arranged in a 2-2-3 or 2-2-2 layout. In terms of power, the new car is expected to use Hyundai's latest 2.0T engine.
It is reported that Beijing Hyundai has registered new trademarks such as CUSTO, Kusto, Kaisu and other new trademarks, which is expected to become the name of the domestic MPV model. After the new car comes on the market, it is expected to become a competitor to the joint venture MPV models such as Odyssey and Ericsson.
Both the new name map and the new Tusheng L are expected to be launched in the first half of next year.
Mingtu is an exclusive model for the Chinese market, and this new car adopts the latest family styling, with an inverted trapezoid mouth designed with split headlights and a unique through taillight style with high recognition. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4780/1815/1460mm and the wheelbase is 2770mm, positioning as an entry-level medium-sized car. In terms of power, the new fuel version of the Hyundai Mingtu will be equipped with 1.8L and 1.5T engines with a maximum power of 143 horsepower and 170 horsepower respectively.
After this upgrade, the compact SUV Tusheng ushered in an extended domestic version in China, with the debut of the new Hyundai Tusheng L at the Guangzhou Auto Show, which will be launched in the second quarter of 2021. The appearance of the new car changes greatly, the front face intake grille is replaced by a mesh structure, and the daily running lights are integrated with the grill. at the same time, the car also uses the design of split headlamp group. The tail is also designed with a through taillight, and the taillights on both sides are similar to the lion claw shape. The interior decoration is relatively simple, using the combination of 10.25-inch instrument screen and central control screen.
Beijing Hyundai sold 398800 vehicles from January to October 2020, down 29.8 per cent from a year earlier, according to the Federation of passengers. Beijing Hyundai has withdrawn from the mainstream joint venture brand camp due to the lack of continuous support of popular models. It is understood that Beijing Hyundai is establishing a brand image through brand-new products, technologies and marketing strategies. Including the import car business that restarted this year, Beijing Hyundai has introduced imported medium and large SUV Paris.
As its models have completed upgrades and technological updates, whether Beijing Hyundai can usher in a drop in sales remains to be seen.
