Recently, Mercedes-Benz filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration for reasons including out of control of the steering control unit and damage to fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment, announcing the recall of some imported A-Class, GLE SUV, C-Class and GLC SUV models.

Import Class A:

(1) starting from December 4, 2020, a total of 19 imported Class A vehicles with production dates from May 20, 2019 to June 6, 2019 will be recalled.

The reason for the recall: the threaded connection of the fuse box in the engine compartment of the vehicle within the scope of this recall is gradually loosened because it may not conform to the specification. As a result, the vibration of the vehicle during driving may cause damage to the fuse in the engine compartment fuse box, and in extreme cases, it will affect some functions of the vehicle, including engine operation, steering power, ESP system and active brake auxiliary system.

Solution: Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will, through authorized dealers, check the threaded connections of engine compartment fuse boxes for vehicles within the recall range free of charge, and correct them if incorrect, in order to eliminate safety risks.

Imported GLE SUV:

(2) from December 4, 2020, a total of 314 imported GLE SUV vehicles were recalled during the period from December 18, 2019 to July 24, 2020.

The reason for the recall: the seat belt in the middle of the second row of seats in the vehicle within the scope of this recall is equipped with a double lock buckle, which may be pushed into the gap between the car body and the seat cushion when the passenger fastens the seat belt. If the passenger is unable to remove the lock, he will not be able to use the seat belt normally, which is a safety hazard.

Solution: Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will adjust the double-lock position for vehicles within the recall range free of charge through authorized dealers to eliminate safety risks.

Imported Class C, GLC SUV:

(3) from December 29, 2020, a total of 275 imported Class C and GLC SUV vehicles with production dates from December 13, 2019 to February 21, 2020 will be recalled.

The cause of the recall: due to the supplier's production deviation, the insulation layer of the steering control unit harness of some vehicles within the scope of this recall may be damaged, and there is the possibility of water vapor entering the wire harness or even the steering control unit, which may cause the vehicle to lose steering power and increase the risk of collision; in addition, if the wiring harness is short-circuited, the potential fire risk and safety risks can not be completely ruled out.

Solution: Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will, through authorized dealers, check the steering control unit harness for vehicles within the recall area free of charge, and replace the wire harness if it is damaged, so as to eliminate safety risks.
