On the evening of December 4, FAW Hongqi E-HS9 announced the final price, with a total of four models, with a manufacturer-directed price range of 509800 yuan to 729800 yuan. It is currently the most expensive mass-produced model of the Hongqi brand.

Briefly review the appearance design of Red Flag E-HS9. The new car adopts the latest family design language, and the straight waterfall large-size grille adopts a closed design with L-shaped daily lights to improve the vehicle recognition. Many details of the new car highlight the characteristics of the red flag brand, including the red flag LOGO at the front of the car, red decorations on both sides of the body, and so on. In terms of size, Red Flag E-HS9 body length, width and height are 5209/2010/1731mm, wheelbase 3110mm, positioning pure electric large SUV.

As a pure electric car priced from 500000 yuan, Red Flag E-HS9 interior uses wood grain and leather to show a sense of luxury. The triple screen design composed of full LCD dashboard, central control multimedia touch screen and co-driver multimedia touch screen creates a sense of science and technology.

In terms of power, Hongqi E-HS9 is equipped with one motor on each of the front and rear axles, the maximum power of the front motor of the low-power version is 218hp, the maximum power of the front motor of the high-power version is 218hp, and the maximum power of the rear motor is 333hp; in terms of battery life, the new car uses ternary lithium battery, which provides both 460km and 510km versions.

In January 2018, after FAW Red Flag released the "New Red Flag" brand strategy, sales continued to rise. In 2019, FAW Hongqi sold a total of 100016 new cars, an increase of 203% over the same period last year. The latest figures show that FAW Hongqi's cumulative sales reached 178100 vehicles in the first 11 months of 2020, an increase of 102 per cent over the same period last year. According to FAW Group's plan, FAW Red Flag has a sales target of 200000 vehicles this year. According to its performance in recent months, it is not difficult for FAW Red Flag to achieve its annual sales target.

Although FAW Red Flag sales continue to rise, it mainly depends on the volume of fuel vehicles H5 and HS5, and the contribution of new energy vehicles is not obvious. As of October, Red Flag H5 has sold 51310 vehicles this year, while Red Flag HS5 has sold 79071. Hongqi H9, which went on sale in August, has sold 6523 vehicles, while Red Flag E-HS3, the first pure electric car, has sold only 1348 this year.

As a pure electric model with a starting price of 500000 yuan, Hongqi E-HS9 still has many product highlights, but its sales pressure does not come from competitive models, or from itself and market trends. In the 500000 yuan pure electric market, the sales of these two models are not optimistic, which attitude should Red Flag E-HS9 take to subvert consumers' perception of high-end new energy vehicles? In addition, it is well known that the biggest problem facing pure electric models is battery life, while most pure electric models in winter, especially in the north, will face a reduction in range. Red Flag E-HS9 has lost its first opportunity when it comes to the market in winter, and the mileage of 410km and 500km is not bright.

With the development of the automotive industry, new energy vehicles have become an inevitable trend in the future, including Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Volvo, Cadillac and other brands have launched pure electric products to occupy market share. However, it is still difficult for consumers to accept pure electric vehicles, especially high-priced pure electric products, and Red Flag may face the same sales pressure as other luxury brands in the development of new energy vehicles.

H9 and E-HS9 can be seen as a symbol of Red Flag's entry into the high-end traditional market and the high-end new energy market. It is undeniable that whether it is because of "feelings" or has a strong product power, the sales of Red Flag cars have achieved a substantial increase after all. The sales target of FAW Red Flag in 2021 is 400000 vehicles, double that of 2020, such a high leap is rare in the field of self-owned brands and luxury brands. However, for the Red Flag brand, sales growth at the same time, but also from the brand word-of-mouth, product quality, after-sales service and other aspects, the upward road will not be smooth.
