According to the Chevrolet website, three new models have been added to the 2021 Malibu XL, namely, the 550T sharp version priced at 194900 yuan, the 550T sharp couplet version priced at 204900 yuan and the 550T sharp smart version priced at 219900 yuan.

It is understood that the 2021 Mirebo XL models currently on sale were officially launched on August 27 this year, and the new car launched three models with a guided price range of 16.49-184900 yuan. As a small modified model, the appearance of the new car is not significantly different from that of the 2019 model, and the front face of the new car still adopts the design of double-layer forward air grille. In terms of interior decoration, the new car still uses a combination of mechanical dashboard and three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, with a multimedia display screen at the top of the center.

The biggest change of the new Marebo XL is the replacement of the 1.5T four-cylinder engine that meets the national six emission standards, with a maximum power 124kw and a peak torque of 250N ·m, matched with a 9AT gearbox.

The appearance and interior design of the three new models on the market today remain the same as those of the current models, and their prices have increased compared with the new models, mainly due to the fact that the new car is equipped with a 2.0T four-cylinder engine, maximum power 174kw, peak torque 350N ·m, and matched by a 9AT gearbox.

Data show that the Chevrolet Malibu XL officially launched on February 27, 2016, with the launch of 1.5T and 2.0L power options. As one of the main Chevrolet models in China, the Malibu XL once became a popular model in the B-class car market because of its excellent performance-to-price ratio, but sales have continued to decline since the 1.3T version was launched in March last year.

The acceptance of the three-cylinder engine in the domestic market is not high, although only one cylinder is missing, but the characteristics such as jitter, poor operation and high noise have gradually become unavoidable hurdles for consumers to buy cars. In the first half of this year, Chevrolet Corruze experienced a significant increase in sales after being replaced with a 1.5L four-cylinder engine. According to the data, Coruze sold 14371 vehicles in October, compared with a cumulative sales of 104677 from January to October.

Against this backdrop, the Malibu XL switched back to a 1.5T engine in August, but judging from its current sales, it didn't sell well after switching to a four-cylinder engine. The data show that the XL sold only 4307 vehicles in October, compared with a cumulative sales of 33545 from January to October, while it sold 74741 despite only three-cylinder models in 2019 under the influence of end-market discounts.

At present, the Malibu XL still has a discount range of about 30, 000 yuan to 40, 000 yuan in the terminal market, this price can buy a four-cylinder B-class car, the performance-to-price ratio is very high. However, or because of brand problems, consumers are more willing to choose Regal models of Buick brand than Malibao XL, and Regal offers a discount of 30,000 to 40,000 yuan in the end market. Perhaps, after returning to the four-cylinder XL, it seems that it can only rely on terminal discounts to maintain sales, but it is also expected to launch a more cost-effective model.
