AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/14 Report--

In recent years, a series of counterfeiting incidents have shaken Japan's "craftsman spirit" brand, after Subaru and Nissan revealed rewriting data in 2018. Suzuki and Mazda had to admit that some tests were fraudulent in emissions tests.

On April 12, Suzuki apologized for violations such as the lack of braking force during vehicle inspection, and announced that it would recall about 2 million vehicles. The related costs are expected to be as high as 80 billion yen (about 4.8 billion yuan).

President Toshihiro Suzuki submitted a report summarizing the results of the violation investigation to the Ministry of Land and Transportation on the 12th and apologized. The report showed that the necessary inspection items of the speedometer besides the brakes were also omitted, and the unqualified personnel used the inspector's seal. There are also cases of concealment of facts at the scene in response to the company's internal investigation. The violation may have started around June 1981 and continued around January this year after it was discovered in August last year. The report pointed out that the shortage of inspectors, aging equipment and management's lack of understanding of the inspection work are the reasons behind the violations.

The violations occurred in Huxi, Xiangliang and Iwata factories, all located in Shizuoka Prefecture, and recalled a total of 40 models, including the main minicar "Spacia" and OEM vehicles.

This is not the first time Suzuki has been found to have violated the test. In 2016, Suzuki also exposed fuel efficiency test violations, when Suzuki said that since 2010, all 16 models sold in Japan have not obtained fuel efficiency data in accordance with national regulations, and have been conducting illegal tests, including Alto and other minicars and small cars, totaling more than 2.1 million.

There was also a Suzuki violation inspection problem in August last year, involving 8577 vehicles, and a total of 11070 vehicles were found to be falsified in data from April 2008 to September 2018 after fuel efficiency and exhaust sampling tests.

In recent years, there have been frequent incidents of illegal fraud by Japanese enterprises, such as Takata wounding airbags, Kobe steel data fraud, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki Motors, Mazda and other car companies. Every time an accident occurs, the person in charge of the car company bows and apologizes to the outside world, but the most important thing is to be able to know and improve and cause vigilance.
