On December 31, 2020, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration announced that Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. has decided to recall Onchino pure electric vehicles produced from March 22, 2019 to December 10, 2020, and Festa pure electric vehicles produced from September 14, 2019 to December 10, 2020, totaling 2591.

The reason for the recall is that when the vehicle IEB (integrated electronic brake) motor outputs abnormal signals, the IEB motor control logic program is not perfect, which may cause several warning lights on the vehicle dashboard and the brake pedal to become hard, resulting in the decrease of the vehicle braking force and the hidden danger of safety.

In view of the above defects, Beijing Hyundai Automobile will upgrade the IEB motor control logic program for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge, in order to eliminate safety risks.

Onchino Pure Electric and Festa Pure Electric are based on the fuel version of the model, which is a typical "oil to electricity" model. Onchino Pure Electric, currently on sale, will be available in November 2019, with body dimensions of 4195/1800/1580mm and wheelbase 2600mm respectively. In terms of power, it is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with maximum power 150kw, peak torque 310N ·m, and NEDC integrated mileage 500km.

In the sale of Festa Pure Electric went on sale in February 2020, positioning compact cars. The length, width and height of the car body are 4705/1790/1435mm and the wheelbase is 2700mm. In terms of power, it is equipped with a drive motor with maximum power 135kw and peak torque of 310N ·m, and the mileage of NEDC under comprehensive operating conditions is 490km.

The presence of Onchino Pure Electric and Festa Pure Electric in the market is not strong. According to the data, Onchino Pure Electric sold only 822 vehicles in the first 11 months of 2020, while Festa sold 1225.

At present, the overall market performance of Beijing Hyundai is not optimistic. Hyundai sales in Beijing totaled 443867 vehicles in the first 11 months of 2020, down 28.8 per cent from a year earlier, according to the Federation of passengers. Although Beijing Hyundai has begun to update its products and its prices have sunk somewhat, Beijing Hyundai also needs to bear more pressure in the face of competition from many mainstream products. In the short term, the decline in Hyundai sales in Beijing is inevitable.
