According to the blog post, at 14:00 on January 10, 2021, a fire broke out on the viaduct of Yan'an Road from Hongqiao to the Bund when the owner of his less than 10-day-old Great Wall WEY VV7 GT electric vehicle was driving from Hongqiao to the Bund.

The owner believes that the location of the fire is the position of the battery at the rear of the vehicle, and the vehicle did not issue any warning sound or warning lights during the fire. The car owner said, "in Shanghai at minus 5 degrees, the new car ignited spontaneously. It was speechless."

The related video shows that the car was almost submerged by the fire, and the fire was finally put out by firefighters, but the vehicle involved was also severely destroyed, leaving only a frame, almost scrapped. The owner said, "if I hadn't seen the smoke through the rearview mirror and jumped out of the car in time, I would have been burned to death."

After the accident, the owner hoped that the brand could give a reasonable explanation, but the brand did not respond afterwards. It is understood that WEY is a luxury SUV brand under Great Wall Motors, launched in 2016, and currently owns tank 300, VV7, VV6, VV5 and other models.

Power is equipped with 2.0T engine, maximum power 167kw, peak torque 387N ·m, transmission system brand 7-speed wet double clutch gearbox, battery ternary lithium battery pack, but the specific brand is unknown.

According to the latest figures from Great Wall Motor, the cumulative car sales of Great Wall Motor in 2020 were 1111598, an increase of 4.84% over the same period last year.
